For those of you considering collecting the pins, they DO NOT stay on the lanyards very well. At $6 or $8 a pin you want to make sure you get home with them, but the kids want to wear them thru the parks. We lost several before we realized they pop off easily. Just something to keep in mind. I ended up keeping them in my fannypack and the kids would trade with them and put them back instead of wearing them. (It kind-a takes the fun out of it tho')

We use the rubber backs and we have never had any problems with them coming off. The metal backs do come off really easily, though.

My kids also lost a few pins, but when we made the switch to the rubber back "Mickey Heads", they never fell of!

I bought a bunch of rubber backs for my girls' pins and they have never had any problems with them falling off. I got a really good price on the rubber backs at cheappins.com, a great place to buy traders. :-)

We have also used the rubber backs without incident...

I stuck a bunch of pins on my hat and never thought twice about them coming off ... Thanks for the info though!

Yes, it is disapointing to loose a pin! The rubber backs really work to keep them in place.

You need the BLACK RUBBER BACKS not the Gold Rubber Backs, and they are under $1.50, where you buy your pins.

We learned this from a CM who only wanted Black rubber pin backs!!

Also we got our starter pins at the offsite Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores, for $1.99.

Thanks for that info, Tink2dw! I was wondering why nobody else was having problems with the rubber backs. (We bought the gold colored rubber backs, thinking they'd be more secure than the metal backs, but no luck...some of the heavier pins still wanted to fall off.) We'll definately try the black colored ones next time.

Steffi I want to assure you that you weren't going nuts my daughter has lost several pins too but I think the key is the gold rubber backs becuase that's what we had too. I now also invested in the locking pins from cheappins.com for the pins we really like and want to keep but DD really wants to show off.

Hi, are these rubberbacks available at TDS?

Never heard of these.

Herc.

I was just at the Disney store and they had 50% off their pins. I got the lanyards with four pins for the kids. They had two mickeys and two minnies on one and two poohs and two eyeores on the other. It came to 7.50 for the lanyard and four pins. I thought I would give it to them when we get there and see if they can do some trading.

Our DS had tons of pins yesterday at 50% off...including the Magical Moments. We also like the Musical ones...we bought the MIcky Mouse club (to go with dd's MIckey Mouse club snowglobe Santa is bringing) and Beauty and the Beast. Be sure to check them for sound at the store, though. One of ours didn't work and the batteries are not replaceable.

I went to Mayfair - I live in Wauwatosa also. We were there on Saturday afternoon. Where do you live in Tosa? We are on the east side.

Hercamore, I've never seen the backs at TDS only in the parks. They sell little bags of them.

There are actual "locking" pin backs available. I saw someone with them at the Chicago pin meet this past weekend. I do not know where she got them, but if you asked on the collectors board I'm sure they can help you there.

You can get locking backs at cheappins.com and I think I've seen them at some of the pin stands in the park too.
