We usually drive to DL but I found a super great rate so we are flying in November 1. We are flying Alaskan air and I don't want to pay to check a bag so we are planning on just using carry ons. We are planning on bringing our trading pins - am I going to have a hard time getting through security with a lanyard full of pins in all of our bags?

I had no problem from jax to sfo with my traders in my carry on. They all had backs. The tsa officer opened my bag to see what the hell all that metal was, but was perfectly fine what he saw what they were!

You should have no issues -- those pins are only slightly dangerous if all the backs fell off at once and someone sat on them.

I suppose you could commit a "death of a thousand pin-pricks," but it's unlikely you'd be able to get someone to sit still long enough for that...

We've never had a problem in all the times we've flown to DL or DW. We put all the pins in a ziploc bag at the top of our carry on. That way, if TSA wants to see what that mass of metal is, it's easy to take it out of our carry on.

We had no problem with our trading pins in our carry on luggage but my kids sure had terrible luck trading at Disneyland. At WDW pretty well every CM has pins to trade but we found about 5% had pins at Disneyland. After a while the kids just gave up.

Sorry to bust in on the thread but just wondering B-Ride did you find many pin trading boards in shops if the CM's didn't have lanyards and if so where?

Thanks everyone! I figured we would be ok but I would have some sad children if they were confiscated! We've only ever traded at DL and on a cruise so since that's all we know we won't be disappointed! :)

My kids wore theirs last time and had no issues. :thumbsup2 Good question though, mine would have been very sad if their pins were confiscated.
