Hi everyone. We just book a stay at DLR for May, and this transaction caused me to pause and be happy we have the ability to use our points for the Disney Collection.

To set it up, my family had (as of this morning) 132 points available (120 at VGC (80 banked+40 current) and 12 at BLT (current)). Since our UY is Aug, we are within the dreaded "Rule of Four", but luckily DLR is excluded from this rule at the moment :cool1:. We were planning to visit DLR this year, so we allowed the full number of points to slide into April instead of banking the 52 points we could.

We finally got around to locking down our schedules and called for availability at VGC. Unfortunately, late may and through June is booked solid (especially around the weekends). Fortunately, my DW called member services and was able to get a room at Paradise Pier around Memorial Day :woohoo:.

The moral of the story, we would likely have allowed our 132 points to expire if we were unable to get into VGC around our available times. If we bought resale after March 20th, we'd be sunk, so I think there is significant value in having the ability to trade into the Disney Collection (at the moment the value is $1,040 (104 points at $10/pt) for us) :thumbsup2.

I was on the fence about the true value of trading in, but since we've done it twice in our six years, it has value for us.

Just wanted to share and get your thoughts.

I've traded out to PPH twice, I had points to use. I also used points for 1 night at POFQ a few years ago, before the $95 fee, when no DVC room was available for a last minute addition to a business trip.

I stay at the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier for a night quite often. I use my points and if I didn't have the points, I wouldn't be staying the night there. I guess I am saying that it has worked for me and my family.

Yay for staying at PPH! It's our fave onsite hotel at Disneyland Resort. Big bright rooms, the lobby smells of suntan lotion, and you get all the perks of being onsite. And it's on points, even better! Have fun!
