I have buy 3 days get 5 days tickets for my DS and myself. I'm considering the benefits of a Deluxe Annual Pass (this is MY second trip in 3 months, and I'm seriously considering at least 3 more with and without child in the upcoming year)

I have heard that one can apply the cost of an existing ticket media to an AP. Can anyone confirm this and, if so, describe how it works?

Thanks,

Mer

Yes, you can do it.

You upgrade your existing valid ticket (in your case, your 3 for 5 ticket) to whatever level AP you want.

Money: They will take the price of the AP you want, subtract the price you paid for your 3 for 5, and charge you the difference.

Timing: You must upgrade PRIOR to your current ticket expiring. YOu can only upgrade if you have a VALID ticket. Most people do it on the last day of their current multi-day pass.

Magic Morning consideration: If you have a MM connected to your ticket, you will lose it once you upgrade. So - use your MM BEFORE you upgrade.

Benefiting from Discounts: Just like you want to wait to upgrade until you use your MM, you want to upgrade as soon as possible as well so you can take advantage of your new AP discounts :goodvibes

Hope this helps,

Also, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, the expiration date on your AP will be one year from the day that you first used your original ticket.

I believe it will be the date you get your AP. For example if you get your AP on June 5th, 2010, the AP will expire on June 5th, 2011 and you can go on June 5th as your last day on the AP. After that it is done.

This is correct.

This is incorrect. We upgraded our 5 day passes to AP's and the expiration of our AP's was exactly one year from the first day of our 5 day passes. Unfortunately, the AP does not expire one year from the first day you get the AP; it expires one year from the first day of your day pass that you use to upgrade.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

My mistake, I talked to a CM about it since my last visit at DL since my DA had bought a 5 day pass and wants to upgrade to an AP during our visit and I did not hear it correctly.

Thx

The theory on this (and a great way to remember the rule) is:
Your ticket has been turned into an AP. So, in theory, you have had an AP from the beginning. :goodvibes

Your AP gives you one year + 1 day. I upgraded my 3 day pass last year on my last day (June 20) but it took effect June 18 (my first day use of the 3 day pass). I just checked and it says "Good thru June 18, 2010"...so, I got one full year, plus one day - 366 days..which I'll be fully utilizing right thru the 18th

I don't know this for sure, but I'm guessing if I were to renew (which I'm not), it would still use the 18th as my ending day so I would only get 365 days on my renewal.

Thank you, all, for the information. It was very useful.

One more week til I'm in the park.

Can you apply the GAD to the price of an AP? We were going to get 3 day passes and use the GAD for the FP's, but I'm assuming you couldn't then use the GAD (fast-pass trade in) toward an AP. Is that right?:confused3

You can't use a GAD for a FP and for an AP.

To use a GAD for an AP you apply it to a one day pass that will get you into the park. From there you go to the AP processing center to get your AP.

Or, if you want to take advantage of a MM, you apply it to a 3 (or more) day pass. Use your MM, and then upgrade to an AP.

The latter is what we will be doing in August!

Do you mean use it as a single day ticket? I don't know what you mean!

MM is Magic Morning and it gets you into the park an hour before regular opening. This is available to any guest with a 3+ day ticket or those who stay at an on-site hotel. It is beneficial to use to get through the FL rides without long waits.

My family will use the GAD voucher to get 3 day hoppers on a Wednesday. We will use that as our entrance ticket on Wed (an non-MM) day and Thursday to get in for MM.

Later in the day on Thursday, we will upgrade our 3 day tix to AP's, with our first day of AP use back dated to Wed.

Any clearer?

Just to clarify so someone else doesn't get confused...

You will not get a 3 day PH with your GAD voucher. You will get a 1 day ticket. You can then upgrade that to a 3 day PH on Wednesday and Thursday. Then, you can upgrade it again to an AP.

Someone recently posted on another thread that they did this and the 3 day hoppers they were given did NOT have MM on them. Could you report back and let us know if the same thing happens to you? We are planning on doing the same thing and am really hoping that it was just a fluke with the other poster.
