Trading in partially used 7-day PHPs for APs?

We came back a few weeks ago, and used 6 out of our 7 days on the PHPs. We also didn't use any of the 4 plusses. If we went back within a year, could we upgrade these (even though they're partially used, and some months have passed) to APs? If so, how do they decide how much they'll credit you for the unused portion? One last question: does it matter that we bought them through Paramount instead of directly from Disney? Thanks for the help!

You can upgrade, but I dont know how much you would get for the remaining days. Disney has a formula to figure that out. You could save those for a rainy day and just get an AP on your next trip.

Yes, you can upgrade them but you may want to think hard about doing that.

Disney does not assign any dollar value when upgrading to any unused plus options so those 4 unused plusses will simply be lost doing the upgrade.

What you will get will be a credit for the dollar value of the remaining unused major park admissions prorated on what you paid for it. It doesn't matter whether you bought it from Disney or not. They can read the encoding on the magnetic strip to know what you paid for it. In your case you will get a 1/7 credit of the original purchase price.

Based on a full gate price 7 day PHP, your credit would only be $48.53. The actual credit on the Paramount tickets would be slightly less since you paid less.

What you need to think about is whether it is worth it to you to save $48.53 (+/-) and lose four plus options which could be worth another $120 at water park gate prices.

You may find it more economical to NOT upgrade and just buy a new AP.

Thanks, GoldenOldie, that makes perfect sense. I didn't realize (I wonder if many people do) that they don't give you any "credit" for the unused plusses. I think I will hold onto it and just buy a 5-day PH without plusses to add to our remaining major park day -- and save these plusses for when our DD is older and would enjoy the waterparks... One more question, since you are so knowledgeable -- even if I use the last major park day on each, the plusses themselves still don't expire, right? Thanks again for your help!

That's correct. Even the unused plus options have no expiration. Doesn't matter whether there are any unused major park days or not.
