Can we trade our old park hopper w/water parks tickets for DVC discounted annual passes? Would it be worthwhile? We have 5 park days left and most of the water park days. We have found out water parks are not that enjoyable to us so we are not concerned with keeping that part of the ticket. If we trade it will be this month during our next trip. We have two trips planned this year for a total of eight/nine park days.

Thanks,
Kate

Tickets must be upgraded within 14 days, so unless you have just used them recently you can not upgrade to annual passes.

don't know about trading in for other tickets, non expiring don't expire (clarifying for others reading the thread). OP have you checked Cheshirefigment's ticket info thread? To do so, do a search of member names, type in that name, and he has two very informative links in his signature. Hope it helps.

Quoted from Cheshire's stickie on the Theme Parks board:

Any MYW ticket can be upgraded within 14 days of first use. There are no exceptions, other than those discussed in the next paragraph. This applies even if the ticket has the No Expire Option. If the first day of use is a Sunday, the last time an upgrade or modification may be done is 11:59:59pm of the second Saturday.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but we have a couple of 7 day non-expiring park hoppers with 4 or 5 days left on them. Can these be converted to APs? I may have the receipt for them.

We also have 7 day PHs that were upgraded in 2009 to non-expiring but have never been used. We got these in a package with free dining but didn't need to use them. I know I have the receipt for the upgrade on these.

If it's been more than 14 days since they were first used, no.

You can not convert these to anything unless you first used them less than 14 days ago and you are still at the parks. When you convert a ticket to an AP the AP is dated to end 1 year from the first use of the ticket so even if it was allowed that provision would probably make this useless to you.

If they have never been used tickets can always be upgraded to any ticket with an equal or larger price tag.

Would these have to be used once and then converted or should I just do it before I try to use them? With no turnstiles and card readers I don't think they can be used anyway. :confused3

As for the partially used ones.....they are still good as PHs on a daily basis until used up?

Thanks for the help.

Partially used MYW Tickets that have the No Expire Option are still valid for use until all remaining days have been used.

Non expiring tickets that have been used and are no longer available for upgrade because of use can be sold as long as they are not the new RFID tickets. All of the biometrics from the old system have been lost and they can be reissued to anyone...

This information is incorrect. Partially used Disney theme park tickets are not transferrable.

And who would buy partially used tickets anyway? Well I guess some would or there wouldn't be those sellers getting arrested! But I assume those are people who didn't understand what they were buying. Or didn't care because they were getting a deal. But I agree, Disney's rule has not changed. Partially used tickets are not transferable.

My information is 100% correct. It may not be within Disney's policies but it is correct. I just gave a non expiring ticket with 1 water park day left on it to my daughters friend. Disney converted it to a RFID ticket. No name attached and no biometric. It was for all intents and purposes a brand new ticket. It is clearly a grey area, but Disney issued a form of ticket that was easy to pass to another.

May I please ask how old this ticket is? Was it a paper ticket?

Our partially used tickets are hard room keys and are marked 2006.

I'm still confused.

I have three old non-expiring Park Hopper paper tickets.

Each ticket has 1 day left on it.

They can't be used as is, because they are not RFID.

Can I turn them into a 3-day Park Hopper?

Or can I turn them into three 1-day Park Hoppers?

Multiple Disney tickets can not be combined in to one, you would still have 3 separate tickets.

I exchanged my DH's paper non-expiring ticket with water parks and more ticket with 3 park days left and 5 water parks days easily at the International Gateway to a new RFID ticket. We like the water parks and eventually will use those days. That's why we bought it in the first place. We exchanged it to use it with MDE.

Tramp68's point is well made. It's hard to know who that ticket belonged to. In our case it really is staying with the same person, but I think we purchased it 3 years ago.

Just wanted to share my recent experience too. This month, April 2014, I successfully traded unused days on a old CHILD 4 day park hopper from around 1995 (paper ticket with photo only) into an ADULT pass (magnetic stripe credit-card-like) linked to my fingerprints. I just went straight to the tickets counter in Epcot to do so.

I was not charged anything for the upgrade. Did not have to show any IDs either. Disney is really generous with the old tickets; now if they only are more generous with today's ticket prices and options .... sigh.

Personally if I had old non-expiring park hoppers, I would hang onto them if I didn't need the money now . I think of them like "gold" and wish I had a bunch of days left. It would be perfect for those little trips to fill in between annual-pass trips. We wanted to go this spring or summer for a few days but didn't want to start our next annual passes until October food & wine, because we know we will go next year for food & wine also.
