Trading Counter Service for snack items

I have read that as of May 31,2015 under the Basic Disney Dining Plan that you are able to exchange a counter service meal for up to 3 snack items. Has anyone tried this since the change and if so did it work out okay? We are going to be down during this year's Food & Wine Festival and if we can do that it would be really wonderful.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to exchange QS for 3 snack credits at F&W, if that is what you are hoping. The exchange is limited to certain QS or stores.
