When I went in May with my wife we were quoted an hours wait but I don't think we waited even half that. We took a pager and went to the outside bar and ordered one drink and before we could finish them our pager went off and we were being called inside. So if you go and are told its a long wait I wouldn't stress it to much the outside bar is a nice atmosphere and there is usually live music at night so its definitely not a bad place to wait.
I was there last month on a Sat night. At about 5:30-6pm the wait was an hour and it wasn't quite that long. When we left at 8:30 the wait was 3 hours. Be prepared to wait if it's on a weekend night.
The deck out front is a nice option to wait I agree.
We ate dinner at 'Ohana and walked down and right in around 730. It was a weeknight, so I'm sure that helped. We did enjoy it though, and I would say definitely try it!
I'm going on a Wednesday and plan on being there when they open up so I can check it out and then go check in to my resort. Really looking forward to this and Jock Lindsey's.
The last 3 times I have been, there was no wait. Just walked in. I have never been there at opening. Previously I had waits of a half hour to about an hour.
There was not always a seat available right upon walking in, though.
