Trader Sam's recommendations

Be aware that at times the bar can be hard to get into since it is not all that big. They have recently added an outdoor bar to Tangaroa Terrace (same location different end of building) and it is staffed by the skippers (bartenders) from ETB.

One other tip, if you have the choice sit at the bar not at a table inside ETB. It may not seem there would be a difference but sitting at the bar is a much better experience.

Either way you will have a great time.

Was at Trader Sams east a couple nights ago. The Skipper said they do not have all the ingredients to make “the child” plus it’s not in their computer. He did whip up a couple off menu drinks, pictured below is the Tiki-421 a Star Wars reference to TK-421. Pretty good, sweet and heavy on the coconut.

Bummers. I know it's an off menu. Also the story is that it was the creation of a single bartender. It caught on and was popular. Once Disney and Lucas Films executives heard about it they banned it from being served for several days. They allowed it as long you didn't call it a baby yoda.
I wonder if refusing to make it is another executive decision.

I wish they had Disneyland childcare like they do at WDW so I could enjoy TS without my children. Ha!

I was going to say that they do, but I just looked it up and Pinnochio’s Workshop closed a couple years ago. We must have been some of the last people to use it. What a bummer! Our daughter went there a few times a year up until she was 9 and was tall enough (and brave enough) to ride all the rides. My husband and I would ride some rides and then go to dinner at Napa Rose or have drinks at Trader Sam’s. Our daughter loved it but I can definitely see why it closed. She would sometimes be the only kid in there with 2-3 adults entertaining her.

Skipper shared similar story about the origin of the drink at ETB. But I think the issue at GG is more about the ingredients. But hard to know for sure. Felt for the Skippers sound like they got some pretty rude remarks for not being able to make it.

Any suggestions as to the best days/times to go when it’s less crowded? I’ve never been to the one in DL and I would love to go during my next trip.

They open at 11:30 so we usually go for lunch/mid day break if it's just the 2 of us. It can get busy even then if there is a convention but often it takes awhile to fill up. Don't be surprised to see a dozen people lined up even for opening. Nights are most always busy.
