I see that Trader Sams will only allow guests 21 and up after 8 PM. I am just curious if this is common in Disney where a restaurant/bar/lounge has age restrictions? I have seen children at mostly every bar/lounge in both resorts and in downtown Disney. This is the first I've ever seen this restriction (except at Bluezoo). This doesn't seem like it will be a BAR but a restaurant/bar with tables...does this seem strange? This will sure keep a lot of families out (not that I think for a second that children/teens belong in bars, im just thinking this seems more like a restaurant style setting). Thoughts?

This is not common at WDW. Not even a little bit. FL allows kids to even sit AT the bar in a bar, so it's definitely uncommon.

Other states it's common. Trader Sam's at Disneyland Hotel has a time limit on kids as well (and they can't sit AT the bar).

I don't know how big the WDW version is, but at Disneyland Trader Sams is mostly a bar with a few tables around the outside of the room (maybe 10). It's a pretty small place and it gets very crowded, loud and fun at night. I consider the food to be bar snacks, the main focus is definitely the drinks.

Trader Sam's is extremely small, capacity is 51 guests and it most definitely an adult environment with the focus being alcoholic drinks

This is a new BAR not a restaurant with a bar area. I feel the age restriction is both appropriate and welcome. There are very few spots where adults can relax without hordes of young children around. There are very many spots specifically for families with young children.

With this information, anyone know how late Trader Sam's will stay open? Thinking it might be fun to stop for a drink after MNSSHP, so around 11 or 11:30.

I for one, am not happy about an age restriction. I think it is ridiculous.

Disney is a place for families, in my opinion. It is also my opinion that this no more of a bar setting than any of the other lounges offered at disney. My family enjoys grabbing a drink and desert/snack after dinner (I'm not really into boozing at 4pm).

Hmmmm, I don't care one way or another about the age restriction, but the OP has me questioning getting into Bluezoo lounge with my 17 year old. I just tried to call, but no answer, so I sent an email. I had planned a late night supper at the bar of beers and apps/lobster rolls (and obviously soda for my teen).

DD22 and I might try this bar though. Sound like fun for frufru drinks.

Once you see the space you will understand why. If you have ever been to the Adventurers Club it's the same type of adult humor
Minors could attend the adventurers club, as long as they were accompanied by an adult.

I'm not fussed about the restriction, but I recall plenty of kids at Adventurers Club (although it did seem too adult for them much of the time).

Isn't there a Coranado club 21+?
