Trade ressies??

Has this or can this be done...
If I book my Home resort 11 mos out... AKV for a set time period w/ intent to change to another resort But instead find someone else who has booked their's i.e. BCV w/ intent to change can we swap our ressies w/ each other?? Would we swap the ressie into each others names or just keep ressie as is but instead of our family checking in at AKV we would check into BCV and the other party would check into AKV, etc Just wondering- I am still thinking of other ways to stay at places we may want to stay other than home resort and risking not getting in at all - How would I post something like that?
"For Trade: AKV 2 BR Ressie June 20-June 24" That was just an example- I am hoping someone else has had experience with this

You can post a request to trade using the DIS's DVC-Rent/Trade board. Be sure to read all the posting rules and title requirements.

Pay particular attention to the three different trade categories and be sure you use the correct one for your specific situation.

Keep in mind you may only post a Trade Wanted thread on the Rent/Trade board, and not on any of the other DVC-discussion boards. It's best to arrange the trade before actually making the reservations. That way you don't restrict the trade to someone who wants the exact dates you reserved. Leave the reservation open until you find someone, and then make a reservation for the dates they want, and they in turn make a reservation for the dates you want at their resort.

To answer your question, I think legally you'd have to have the names changed on the two reservations. I don't think they let anyone check into a room if they're not on the reservation.

As Caskbill said, they will not let someone check in if their name is not on the reservation, so you'll definitely have to swap the names.

Personally, we've never had any trouble getting what we wanted and I wouldn't go through the hassle of trading. We've stayed at all of the DVC properties (except AKL but that's on the schedule for next year) and only had to waitlist a couple of times.
