Has anyone traded out to RCI since DVC changed over to them? We are thinking of some options in Florida, Virginia, North Carolina or Kentucky.

Some options from the RCI site include:
  • Owners Club at the Homestead, VA
  • Chetola Resort, NC
  • Wyndham Nashville, KY
  • Crown Park Resort, KY
  • Club Intrawest, Sandestin, FL

I've only traded out once before to a Club Intrawest in Canada. It was great, but I'm concerned the quality of the facility and accommodations of the other companies (that I have never heard before) will be inferior to Disney.

Any insights anyone can provide would be helpful. What are my chances of late April / early May?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Randall, understanding that other resorts are generally without a theme and certainly not Disney-style, there are some which are very nice nonetheless. Late April and early May is usually quiet in the locations you've listed so you may have no problem booking an exchange.

*** Owners Club at the Homestead, VA - sorry, never been

*** Chetola Resort, NC - never been but love the area and very good resort reviews, would not hesitate

*** Wyndham Nashville, KY - TN not KY, very nice rooms, especially 2BR and up (some smallish 1BRs) and good facilities, located 1 block from the Opryland Hotel - worth at least a walk through if not dinner, also an hour's drive from Mammoth Caves N.P. in KY

*** Crown Park Resort, KY - also TN (Gatlinburg) not KY - newish place with a surcharge for exchangers (?) in a good location for walking the touristy area and driving into the Smoky Mtns N.P. but I think I'd prefer Gatlinburg Town Square upper floors or Wyndham Smoky Mountains (Sevierville) if you want to see several shows in Pigeon Forge or Dollywood because of the easy back roads access (and nice rooms). WynSM has good recreation facilities too.

*** Club Intrawest, Sandestin, FL - never been, have read good things.

That time of year is also really nice on HHI, in Williamsburg or St. Augustine, some other good options. You may also want to consider NYC, which has had recent availability in RCI for spring time.

You can always try www.tripadvisor.com, www.tugbbs.com/forums, www.timeshareforums.com/forums and/or www.google.com to find out as much information as possible.

For example, here's what I found for Wyndham Nashville

RCI's timeshare rental website has April & May availability for Wyndham Nashville. These weeks might also be available for exchange.
See http://www.wyndham-vacations.com/main.taf?p=1,2&resortid=3688&month=04&year=2009 (NOTE: Wyndham owns RCI - http://www.wyndhamworldwide.com/about/at_a_glance.cfm)

Thanks for the information.

I am so embarrassed. I do know the difference between TN and KY... And where Nashville is. I guess I'm just losing my mind.
