Tracy Arm day Barbecue

Yep... on a sunny and dry day. That's what I expect at the back of the boat. However on a wet rainy day.... everyone wants to be under the glass awning covers.

I remember being curious about this bbq when researching for our May 25th cruise last year - so I took the camera with me. Hope it helps.

Day 3 - Tracy Arm - May 27, 2015.

the bbq was set on the right side of the outdoor seating area of the Beach Blanket Buffet - deck 9 AFT. (red arrow)



Check your navigator for times. We made a point to arrive early and it was already getting crowded.





It's a little confusing. Beach Blanket Buffet will have their regular full lunch buffet setup inside which does not include the items served at the bbq. You must walk outside for the bbq which is only accessible from there.

We sat outside and took in the sights. These tables go pretty fast.





It was great to just sit and take everything in, watching the icebergs float by. We had the best time naming them.

That first plate Poison Ivy showed was mine. The BBQ was excellent. Good variety and well prepared. Makes me want to go back.

This was by far my favorite cruise to date. Never ending scenery and great excursions.

Not specifically at the bbq. only salads and bread are outside along with the grilled items. These items compliment the full lunch buffet being served inside at the same time. So you can enjoy a full array of options together.

Like I said earlier, it's a bit confusing. The bbq is offered outside during the regular lunch hours of the Beach Blanket buffet.

To get to it, you enter the BBB and walk to the outdoor seating area in the back. So you'll pass most of the food stations set up with a variety of lunch items.

Everyone immediately grabs a tray and enters / passes the buffet lines on the way in. The doors to the outside are straight back from here.

there's a lot more. Including a fried rice/pasta bar around the corner and other side stations.
















Now imagine most of this WITH the BBQ!! why am I not on a cruise?!?!

I kept reading "dress in layers" but couldn't get a good visual on it. The weather is so unpredictable that you really need to prepare for a range of temps.
Tracy Arm can get cold as you wind toward the glacier. But as you'll see in the below pics. with the sun out, it warmed up pretty good.

Here's the men modeling what I'd consider the basic most common interchangeable items for everyone's packing list:


lightweight weatherproof jacket
hooded sweatshirt
thin long sleeved shirt
hat of some sort - and gloves
sunglasses (optional)

It's served during the regular lunch hours for Beach Blanket Buffet. For us it was 12-2pm.

this is extremely helpful, love these photos! Are the side salads out with the bbq or do you have to go back inside for the side salads?
