Thanks yes he had his own computer and email, do you think I could transfer my units on my phone to his phone and also keep number or just transfer and use his new number? I tried to look on their site but could not get an answer
:confused3 I didn't think minutes were transferrable! :confused3

I am not aware......I thought once the minutes went into the fone, you had to use them or lose them. I have been using Tracfone for a long time but things could have changed over the last year and I wouldn't notice....I just keep buying minutes and using the fone! You should call the 800 number and ask them that one and then you could share the info/experience back here with us! Sorry I am not being helpful! :goodvibes

No, I don't think you can transfer your minutes onto a different phone. It's use them or lose them if you don't add minutes by the end of your time.

Hi would like to ask a Tracfone question about having a tracfone and refering spouse and getting new phone and transfering minutes. Has anyone done that?

 Good News! YES, you CAN transfer minutes from your old phone to your new phone!!

Here's how to see it on the Tracfone website:

1) Go to www.tracfone.com
2) Click on "Questions" (left side on pg)
3) Click on "Policies & Procedures"
4) Click on "Phone Upgrades"

Here's what it says:

Q: What is a phone upgrade?
An upgrade is when you wish to transfer your phone number and units from an analog to a digital or GSM phone.

Q: I just bought a new TRACFONE, how do I do an upgrade?
In order to do an upgrade you need to contact the Customer Care Center at 1-800-867-7183 so that a representative can transfer that information.

Q: If I buy a new TRACFONE, can I transfer my remaining units to the new phone?
Yes, you can transfer the units into your new TRACFONE by calling the Customer Care Center at 1-800-867-7183.

Q: If I buy a new TRACFONE, can I transfer my phone number to the new phone?
Yes, you can transfer the phone number into your new TRACFONE by calling the Customer Care Center at 1-800-867-7183.

Q: If I upgrade to a new TRACFONE, will my due date change?
As with any new activation, you will receive 60 days of active service from the date of the activation.

Q: If I upgrade to a new TRACFONE, will I still receive the 10 bonus units for activating?
As with any new activation, you will receive 60 days of active service and 10 bonus minutes on the first time activation.

I'm just liking this phone more and more every day. :sunny:

While you CAN transfer minutes from an old phone to a new phone, I don't think you can get the 100 free referral minutes unless you get the phone in a NEW email address/name.

So, first get your new phone in your spouse/child's name.
-then-
Once you have the new phone, THEN you transfer the remaining minutes over to the new phone.

I'm not sure how the different name part works. They seem to go by email and ESN numbers more than actual names.

I'll look into it and see if I can find the answer.

I referred my husband and bought him a phone for the truck and they gave us both the 100 referral minutes.

ALso last week I purchased the new flip phone one and I LOVE IT. Transferred my minutes from my old motorola to the new motorola one.

VERY HAPPY with the new one by the way

Thanks for all your answers..what I was trying to figure out is if I could get the flip phone at a different address and then transfer my minutes/ and number from my phone now. I know this is confusing. but at least I know I can transfer the minutes/units. Also I have a Nokia now does anyone else have trouble retreiving voice mail messages? It dials my phone number but then when I enter *8888 It says doesn't accept and cuts me off. I also seem to be charged units for listening to voice mails I thought they were free ? Also do you have to listen to them to erase. I know that is alot of questions....Sorry. I'm sloooow. Carol

Could someone please pm me. I need a referral. Thanks.

Got one already. Thanks all.

In my paperwork, it said that that I will be charged for checking my voicemail with my phone. So I try to check it from my landline when possible. HTH :)

I just tried to do mine for the first time and had some issues but I've got it now. For my phone, I called my phone number and then pressed the * key when my "leave me a message" spiel came on. Then it asked for my passcode, and I entered it. It brought me to my messages. HTH :)

When you mentioned the green key, you threw me off  Just want to clarify that I was calling from my home phone not my Tracfone, bc I don't want to use my minutes listening to VM. I haven't used my Tracfone to access VM other than to set it up - I don't think there is a way to do that from your home phone :confused3 HTH!

I haven't set up my voice mail yet. About how long (min) does it take to get it up & running. I don't think I'll use it very much, but it would be nice to have.

It takes about 10 mins to set up so be prepared. It is good to have because if it's off an incoming call can go to VM. Also, check your messages on a land line to save your minutes.

HTH!
