.... That was fast Trixie! Did you order it the day you posted? I am hoping mine is here by Friday - I ordered this afternoon :)....

Hi, I'm the OP and here's my timeline of getting this phone deal:

1) Thu, Mar 2 ~ Referral email sent to me
2) Fri, Mar 3 ~ Ordered phone using referral link.
3) Sun, Mar 5 ~ Rec'd confirmation email from
Tracfone: fwd it to QuickRewards
4) Mon, Mar 6 ~ Rec'd payment from Quick Rewards
5) Tue, Mar 7 ~ Rec'd PHONE via FedEx (have to be home to sign for it)
6) Tue, Mar 7 ~ Activated phone online, got phone number, phone works! Yay!
7) Wed, Mar 8 ~ Went back to 'Step 3' on referral email and entered phone # to get my free 100 minutes.

8) Still waiting ~ For my 100 free mins to come. The link says it takes 48 hrs.

So all in all, about 4 days from placing order to being able to place calls.

 By the way, I'm very pleased with this phone. It says 'refurbished' on the website, but this thing looks brand new, has a color screen (my other one is BW) and my kids are *dying* to use it!

I may keep it for myself!!

So, to be certain, I shouldn't order the phone until AFTER I get the referral in order to be able to qualify for the 100 minutes?

jrpatter

I just sent you a pm regarding referral.

hegfam,

The referral will have three steps listed:
1. Buy a Tracfone
2. Activate your phone
3. Get 100 minutes

I bought our first phone from Sam's Club before I got a referral, but I did not activate the phone until I received the e-mail referral. I'm not sure if buying the phone direct from Tracfone makes a difference.

Toots :)

You can buy your phone anytime you want. From Tracfone, or at your local Walmart or Target.. or even get one as a gift.

The key is NOT to ACTIVATE it until you've received a referral email. After you activate your phone, you have just a very short time to click on the 'Step 3' link to get credit for being a "referral" and get your 100 minutes.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi I have a question about the code. Niether one works for me on line for the 100 free min. NOT the referrall. Do you use the code online or when you activate your phone???

You add the code when you enter the 1-Year Card, which can be online.

So, the order is:

First, activate your phone.

Then, go back to "Add airtime" and enter the pin on the one year card. At the bottom of the screen, you'll see an area for adding a promotional code. Put the code in here.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all your help Trixie! I can't wait to get mine!

THANKS SO MUCH!! It does help. It clears up why I couldn't get the code to work on line! :thumbsup2

...I need to make sure the phone I get from Tracfone has no roaming....

These 2 phones from Tracfone have no roaming:

*Nokia 1100 (reg. cost: $19.99)
*Motorolla v170 (the one in this thread) (reg. cost: $49.99)

I've used my Nokia 1100 all over the place and was always charged just 1 unit with no roaming fees.

The website calls this "Single Rate Plan" and it comes automatically on these 2 phones.

That's what I like best! I have a regular cell phone that I used around town, but when I travel just 30 min in either direction, mine goes to 'roaming' and charges me a fee! So I use my Tracfone as my "travel" phone when I'm out of town and it has always worked great!

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the Referral email with the link? :wave2:

Thanks!

8) Thu, Mar 9 ~ Received my 100 free referral minutes!

This worked really well, I think! :woohoo:

Wow! That was FAST, Trixie! I've had to wait up to a month...ugh....

Well, I'm in the market for another Tracfone, LOST my flip phone...

Luckily my son has one so I'll be doing a referral from him. Hopefully I will be getting my minutes as fast as you did!

Well, I ended up having to call the Customer Service phone number and they gave me a code to enter over the phone. I guess that made it faster than normal.

When I went to enter my info on the referral email Step 3, I kept getting an error message. So then I called their toll free number.

The customer service was nice enough, but very SLOW! I think I stayed on the phone 40 minutes. But I did get my 100 min, so that was worth it!
