Tracfone LG 840g- WIFI connectivity?

I'm looking at a Tracfone for DD. She would like touchscreen and there is a LG 840g touchscreen that looks nice. There is only one review on it on Amazon, but it is positive. If anyone here has one, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

One specific question- it says it has 3G Wifi connectivity. What does this mean? Does it mean she can go on the internet without using minutes, as long as she is in wifi, kind of like an Ipod does?

I have one and I like it so far. The biggest issue is that there aren't any cases or screen films for it yet. You can use the wi-fi to connect and use the internet without using minutes; however it is really limited. You can't see much on the screen, it's hard to click, etc. It will be good in a pinch to look up a number, but it isn't that great. Also, you have to be very careful because it is easy to not be on wi-fi but think you are.

Thanks for the link- I read up on it on Howard Forums- that's a handy site I had never heard of.

I am concerned about using minutes when you think you are on wifi. I may just have her stay off the browser- she has an iPod she can use for wifi. I think on the Howard Forums somewhere they were discussing some settings like airplane mode in combination with something else where you can keep it from getting on the internet when you're not on wifi.

The internet isn't that important anyway- I like it because it looks more like a cool phone than the others and it's triple minutes. She liked the Motorola touch screen but it is practically the only one without double or triple minutes. Glad to hear you like it. I am afraid her sister will want to have one too- she got the Samsung T404g last year because she didn't like touch screens...now EVERYBODY has a touchscreen so she is changing her tune

I was looking for one for my daughter and there is on on the Walmart site that says triple minutes for life. It is $10.00 more then the Kmart, but the triple minutes may make it worth it. I don't know too much about it.

I'm still deciding if I want one or not. I currently have the LG 800G Tracfone, but I'm not really happy with it, so I was looking to make a change. The reviews have been mostly positive, so I'll probably take the plunge.
