TR: Moving to WDW and Earning your Ears! (This is Goodbye) 9/19

wow.

Gorgeous room

Good thing Stacy let you know about the other bed :rotfl:

Yes! I will thank her because without her, Dbro would have never sat on that chair revealing white under the cushion which led to the exploration and removal of the cushions to find the bed!

I've never really liked YC, but your room looks beautiful! I think I had the same location at BC when I was there in May, because we had the same view, only of BC, obviously! :rotfl: I love club level, it's so amazing!:cool1:

Your room looks awesome! What a great view. Love all the goodies too. I usually end up stashing those in my suitcase before coming home. :rolleyes1

What a beautiful room! That view is heavenly:cloud9:

It was a great room!

It was very nice! I have never stayed on the BC side. When I booked YC I thought I should change to BC to say I've stayed on both sides..glad I didn't!

I do too! I was hoping they would leave more of the lotion, aloe, and mouthwash..but they didn't :sad2: lol

I am shocked!!;)

Wow that was definately a nice room and great find on the pull out! Beautiful view!

Thanks! It was one of the best WDW surprises I have ever gotten, that's for sure. It ranks it up there when we stayed at WL for the first time in 2000 but my dad told us we were staying at POFQ. My brother and I both freaked out when we pulled up to WL (after being told we're looking around before we check in at POFQ) and my dad said SURPRISE! :woohoo:

YS, FIREWORKS, AND SWIMMING!

HAPPY SUNDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

I normally don't post 2 updates in the same weekend but a lot of things are unfolding with the Dec trip so I thought I would speed this one up a bit since I said I won't have 2 PTR and a TR going at the same time :rotfl:

SAT AUG 7TH 2010 CONT:

When we last left off (on Friday :rotfl2:), Dbro and I were in our Heavenly room, discovering the pull-out bed, and the free goodies at the sink!

After I changed quickly, we decided to check out the lounge before heading down to dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse.

At that time it was around 5:30pm and the evening snacks were out called Twilight Treasures. It included 2 appetizers sized things. That night I think they had chicken on a stick and something else?? They also had cheese and crackers and fruit. You could drink "adult beverages" and pop. They always had water, lemonade, and tea too! After sampling some of the food quickly, we headed down for our ADR!

We walked in and there were 2 other families waiting with us and we were given a buzzer and stood and checked out the meat!

071.jpg

We were seated within 5 mins next to a HUGE table that at first we thought was a small wedding party but it turned out to be a birthday for the grandma who was turning 100 that day :thumbsup2.

Our server came right over and we chatted up right away. He was also from Cincinnati so we of course became instant friends!

We ordered Iced Tea for Dbro and Diet Coke for me! We took pics of course!

072.jpg

073.jpg

And then it came..what not top the night off more but the Heavenly rolls, especially the onion roll..of which we both ate 5 of and definitely had seconds!

We both decided to get wine as well. I had a white and Dbro had a red..the best red he said he's ever had! Mine was a Riesling at $11 a glass and he had a Toren Z Blend (basing this off of the receipt haha) at $16 a glass.

When it came time to order, I got the filet and Dbro got the strip:

074.jpg

075.jpg

We also added on a side of mushrooms. Our server said they would feed two..we thought they could feed 4+..but I think that's after nearly 5 rolls each :rotfl:

076.jpg

As far as the steaks go..Dbro said his was the best ever! Mine was very good as well! Would we pay of of pocket to eat at this place..no but on a DDP of sorts we soo would!

For dessert, it was a toss-up. I really didn't see anything that jumped out at me so when Dbro ordered the banana dessert, I did too!

077.jpg

The dessert was awesome! I'm not a huge banana person but this was good and I'd like some more right now!

All in all, with all of our extras it ended up being an extra $66 for our drinks, added side, and tip but it was worth it!

After we rolled out of YS, we headed down towards Epcot to watch Illuminations from the bridge!

087.jpg

089.jpg

092.jpg

094.jpg

It was then that Dbro met his CP roomie + some girl friends of his, for the first time! He was a super nice guy and they chatted for a few mins before they said goodbye and continued walking the Boardwalk.

After Illuminations (which IMO) are not so great without the music, we decided to check out the Regatta Delights snacks in the lounge and go swimming!

For desserts they had 3 mini type desserts and cordials plus all other beverage choices. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I ever ate any of the mini desserts or not :scared1:

We checked out some more of the room before we headed down to the SAB:

Dbro talking to mom about our meal!

082.jpg

Finally we went to SAB!

084.jpg

083.jpg

The first place we went was the pirate slide! Dbro had not been on the slide when we stayed there for 1 night in Dec. In all honesty it was FREEZING but I figured if I'm going to pay for 1 night to stay at a place I've always wanted to stay, I'm going to try that slide..and I did! Good thing the water was heated in Dec!
After a success on the slide, we walked around the pool for a 1/2 hour and called it a night!

Dbro decided to meet up with his new roomie and his friends so he did that till about 12:30am and I went to bed!

...our next adventure was:

THE DISNEY PARKS!!!!!

..up next: Epcot, DHS, Epcot, and MK!!

Mmmm YS looks soooo good! I've always been a little nervous about going there, I had an ADR there last year but changed it to Captain's Grille at the last minute because I thought it might be a little too uptight for me, but now I'm having second thoughts! I'm also having second thoughts about YC in general because of your pics! It really does look like a beautiful resort, I do prefer the BC decorations and colors, but I think I might like to try YC someday! :)

I'm glad your brother liked his roomie! :cool1: That's pretty cool that they got to meet up and hang out for a while! :)

And I agree about Illuminations, it's not the same unless your actually watching it in Epcot with the music!

wow...your food looked so good...

I hope to stay at BC or YC one day just to try that pool :goodvibes

Awesome updates! :thumbsup2 You room and the view is beautiful and that meal looks amazing! I can't wait to read about the parks!

Wow...you meal looked and sounded delicious! I have heard wonderful things about YS....one year we will definately have to go:cool1:

Great update! I am sitting here drooling over your room! I am SO jealous you got to stay at YC!!!! I guess I need to find a CM to make friends with!!! I can't say too much about your dinner....I'm not a red meat eater! :rotfl: The potatoes looked good though! How nice that your DBro got to meet his roommate ahead of time and hang out! Can't wait to read more of your adventures!

I'm finally caught up!
Sorry about the Praxis. :grouphug: Totally sucks. I know you'll do it next time!
Awesome, awesome, awesome news about being upgraded! Too cool!!!

Amanda

Great update! The YC is such a nice area. So much to do! Sounds like you had a nice evening with your brother. The slide at Stormalong Bay is so much fun. The pool is one of the things I miss most about staying at the BCV. Can't wait to hear about the parks! That's the day we got there too so it'll be funny reading what you were doing as we were on our way. haha

The food was really good!! I don't know if I'd eat there every trip but I also like Captains Grille and it's a good 2nd option! It wasn't fancy at all as I thought it would be IMO, Cali Grill seems more fancy as does Narcoosees even though I've never been there.

wow...your food looked so good...

It was very yummy! Captains Grille, next to it, is a good place as well and not a sig restaurant!

Dinner photos had me drooling! Looks so good. I will have to plan on going there next year.

Me too haha.

I'm finally caught up!

I think the same thing as you write your TR!!

PARK DAY

Hi Dis Friends!!

Happy Saturday!! Did you all have a good week?? I'm glad the long weekend is finally here! I figured I'd post an update now and then finish the day off on Monday. I'm going out of town for the next 2 days..family BBQ and bridal shower. Full explanation is on the Oct PTR!

I'll preface this by saying some of the spelling may be off on this post! I was shutting the classroom door yesterday and the kids decided to all push each other thus pushing into me and pushing my hand in between the door an that metal part beside the door so I'm left with a rather bruised/swollen hand. Pretty sure it's just a bad bruise but here goes!

So we've finally made it to park day of the TR!

SUNDAY AUGUST 8, 2010

The day started super early..for Dbro not me!

He had homework to finish and a test to take for his online Master's classes so he was up at the crack of nothing because it was 5:30am. I heard him get up but fell back asleep till 6..or did I? It's WDW, when you're up, you're up so I was up! I ended up getting up and getting ready right then and there. Epcot was having EMH so our goal was to be there for opening!

After I got dressed, I went down to the lobby to give Dbro some of the coffee from the lounge. Before I left I took some good morning pics!

097.jpg

098.jpg

He finished up by 6:30/7am and got ready for the day. While he was doing that, the sun had come up!

100.jpg

101.jpg

Around 7:30 we headed over to breakfast at the lounge! That in itself was a great perk! We aren't huge breakfast eaters. Maybe once on the trip we will have a mickey waffle but normally it's cereal, bagel, or breakfast bar.

The lounge had cereal, muffins, bread, bagels, fruit, yogurt, eggs, etc. It was a great selection. We feasted real quick and then headed to Epcot! Dbro wanted to walk, I said drive! We had plan and it was a quick one!:

-Get FP for Soarin
-Ride TT
-Ride MS
-Get out and head to DHS for opening!

We drove, walked in, and were there right before opening!

102.jpg

103.jpg

104.jpg

105.jpg

When the park opened, Dbro ran for Soarin and I walked behind meeting him outside the pavilion near the big screen that lists the ride times!

106.jpg

After Dbro got his FP, we headed over to TT!!

At that point, we started to notice the type of shoes Dbro might have to wear and as it turns out, these were the ones he was to wear!

108.jpg

After TT, it was nearing 9am so we rushed back to the car and rushed over to DHS. We got there just as they were letting the guests go! We rushed over to TSM, no FP that day, just rode it as we were attempting to hit 3 parks in 1 day!

117.jpg

After Dbro got his highest score ever, we headed over to ToT, RnR area. By that time, ToT and RnR already had wait times of over 30 mins :scared1: We decided to get a FP for RnR and wait on tower. When we got in line the line was outside the gate and near the FP area. It ended up being a good 50 min wait as 2 of their elevators were down but we still had fun! We enjoyed the new effects!

119.jpg

120.jpg

After Tot, we headed over so I could take my LAST TOUR TO ENDOR!

122.jpg

After feeling let down that the mission failed once more, we decided to get some ice cream and Dbro had to pull the rope..

126.jpg

We then headed back for RnR

129.jpg

132.jpg

133.jpg

When we got to the FP area, there was a rather large family standing there. I walked up to them and asked if they were waiting and the leader of the group said yes so Dbro and I walked past them and walking into the line. It was then I heard screaming from behind:

"WE WERE IN LINE YOU KNOW!" and after that, all we heard were pretty rude remarks about our cutting. Well, I kept my cool and ignored the rather harsh woman and her group but still :confused3 She must be new??

After that, the skies began to look dark and we decided to head back to YC to rest before our lunch at Coral Reef!

CONT IN NEXT POST:

When we got back to our room, we opened the door to..no towel animals. Oh well. I left my tip envelope out but knowing the resort was full, I wasn't expecting anything!

But..we also hadn't had mousekeeping either so there was still a shot for later right??

I decided to play with my camera zoom!

137.jpg

138.jpg

After a little potty break we headed to the lounge!

139.jpg

140.jpg

141.jpg

142.jpg

There was only one family in there so I didn't feel as stalkerish by taking pics!

After a quick snacky of those WONDERFUL CHIPS AND DIP THAT THEY HAD, we headed over to Epcot..this time by foot!

143.jpg

146.jpg

151.jpg

Before lunch we went:

161.jpg

It was perfect timing as we arrived to Coral Reef right on time for our 1:05 ADR

We were given a buzzer that went off 10 mins later:

162.jpg

We sat on the top level which we've never sat at before and it was a great view of the whole room!

We decided to get the appetizer for 2:

165.jpg

It was good. I wouldn't get it again though.

I got the Mahi Mahi..Dbro did too!

166.jpg

It was yummy! Way better than before!

For dessert, I had another, I don't know moment. I always got the chocolate wave but wanted something new:

167.jpg

It was a great meal overall!

After that we decided to check out some more Epcot rides!

THAT'S IT FOR NOW..I'LL BE BACK ON MONDAY FOR THE REST OF THE PARK DAY!!

That view is absolutely stunning! I think with a view like that I would have been up every morning to just stare outside:lmao:

I had the same dessert at Coral Reef as you did and I was a little disappointed. I too always get the chocolate wave but wanted to try something different, but I'll go back to the wave next time:cloud9:

Sounds like a great day so far other than those rude guests

I am glad you were able to ignore them, not sure if I could have

Can't wait to read what is next
