TP Reservation Finder technology

I was just curious if anyone knows how TP resort finder works behind the scenes. I assumed that their computers just made dummy reservation request throughout the day... However I am now guessing they are able to get some notice as soon as a reservation is canceled or their system is literally checking for reservations every few seconds.

I was luck enough to coordinate a BOG lunch with a fellow DIS member. We agreed on a time (12:45) and I started checking and refreshing right away starting at 12:44. The reservation opened up right around 12:45 (maybe 12:46) and I clicked to take it. In that time, someone had already taken the reservation and it was gone

A few minutes later I looked down at my phone and noticed that TP had sent me a text at 12:45 to let me know that reservation had opened up. I am amazed on how quick the system must have known that reservation was canceled.

Anyways I still have 3 weeks left and will keep my fingers crossed.

I also have a question about the Reservation Finder. Every time it finds a reservation does it stop the search? I'm am looking to change my Ohana dinner to an earlier time than 8:40 pm and 9:15 keeps showing up. I obviously don't want that, but I'm not sure if the system keeps checking after it finds the 9:15 time. Does anyone know the answer to this?

If you go look at your request it will show you that it stopped the search.

So every time it finds that 9:15 time I have to go back in and reset it?

Yes. Annoying but easy to just refresh the search.

That is super annoying. Is there an easier way than going on their website?

When I do that it just gives me the same reservation over and over.

If you put in a specific time, it will only search for an hour before and an hour after that time so maybe try that. Put in 7:00 for example and it will only show you ADRs from 6-8pm, cutting out that 9:15 time.
