Toystoryduo’s Journal: Baby Steps are the Key... Celebrate Each Victory!

Hi Tracy,

Yuck, snow!!! We are suppose to get rain..I'll take rain over the snow.

Sorry you didn't make it to the zoo yesterday, but at least you were able to get out and enjoy the weather!

Keep up the good work!!

Have a great day :)

Hi Tracy,

Sorry you didn't make it to the zoo. I am glad to hear that you were able to get out and enjoy the weather while you can.

SNOW!?!?! I thought it was spring, it can't snow. UGH...hang in there!

I hope you and your family are feeling better really soon.

Hi Tracy, the zoo will be there for another day! I'm glad you were able to enjoy the nice weather anyway. I love spring but it never fails that around here we have a white Easter! Looks like we are getting some snow and rain this weekend too:sad2: ! You are doing great I know those good days will keep on a coming!

Hi Tracy
your day out sounded fun :)
Snow in April???? I thought we had bad weather!!!
Hope the weatherman gets it wrong ;)

Thanks WISH buddies.:grouphug:

Yesterday was a good day, but ended on the downside. We spent most of the day chilling out and doing nothing. My DH and I are still trying to get over this cold and I think we have a tendency to run out of energy faster. The kids don't have that problem. ;) They have an endless supply of energy it seems.:banana:

So anyhow, my DH took us to Red Lobster for dinner. It was his way of saying thank you to me for getting the taxes done. We had a wonderful meal...Really yummy!:goodvibes We came home and my DD6 volunteered to clean and straighten up.:eek: Why you ask? Because the Easter Bunny is coming of course!:lmao: She spent a good part of the evening straightening up her room and cleaning out her dresser. She even made of bag of books, toys, and clothes for charity.:love: What was DD4 doing during this time you ask? Watching her sister clean and talking to her about Meet the Robinsons.:rotfl:

In any event, something seemed "off" for me the entire day. Maybe it was the huge change in weather (the temps dropped 50+ degrees in less than 24 hours:scared1: ), but my mood was definitely not a good one. :( I was very grumpy and crabby yesterday and when that happens, I become Negative Nelly. :( I started thinking about all the things we have been through the past few years and how our extended family has really not been there for us. Very often when someone in our extended family calls, it's because they want something. Not because they want to know how we are doing or to know if there is anything they can do to help. :mad: Then I started thinking about my weight loss journey and that got me really upset. I've been trying to lose this weight for 4 years now and it doesn't seem to want to go anywhere. After all this trying, why keep going? :confused3 Can you see where this is going? A major food binge.... :( I'm going to put this down in writing because I need accountability. It is embarassing though.:scared:

B: Strawberries, 2 Blueberry Waffles (syrup, butter)
L: Shrimp Scampi, 1/4 serving of mashed potatoes, 1/2 serving of DH's lobster and shrimp pasta, 1 biscuit, and salad
D: 4 Blueberry Waffles (syrup, butter)
S: Cheese and Hot Fries, a few Funyuns

I really wanted to continue on the food binge, but I did stop. :sad2: My DH (who is a great guy:love: ) understood all of this while I was venting about life. He reminded me that we ordered the Power 90 workouts from TV and that we would take our extra weight off together by working out together.

So, here I am today.... Feeling somewhat better. Hoping to put yesterday behind me and focus on today. I can't un-do what has been done, but I can make today a better day than the one before. I do think that I will need to address these issues with family at some point because if I don't, these negative feelings will keep coming back. Now, is not the time though. It's really not a good time, but is there ever a good time?:confused3

On to today...

* Laundry

* Homeschool

* Workout

* Thrift Store

* Library

* Cleaning

I'd like to ask for your prayers.... As you know, I've been homeschooling my DD6 this year using an online charter school. The curriculum is very demanding and she is able to complete most of the work. However, I'm not sure that this program is a good fit for her. We'll have to decide within the next couple of weeks if we want to keep DD6 in the program and enroll DD4 as well or if we will go a different direction with homeschooling all together. It's a big decision and one that we will have to make soon. Thanks!:grouphug:

Have a great day everyone and thanks for listening.:goodvibes

Hi Tracy,

I am so sorry that you were having a not so good day :grouphug: You are right, you can't undo yesterday, but you can look foward to today and just move on. I think it's great that your DH understands and didn't say anything bad about your food binge. Instead he listened and then come up a solution....work out together...I think that is great! Hang in there hon, it will get better. Keep your head up!!

My sister tried to homeschool all the kids while they were on the run from her idiot ex husband and she had a tough time. Her's was due partly because she was in a different county, but even when she was here in the states, she had a tough time. I understand...I have never been through it, but hearing all her struggles on if it was the right choice for her kids....Prayers and pixie dust have been sent.

Hope you and DH get to feeling better soon!!!!

Have a great day Tracy :)

I hear you on the food binge. When I get myself worked up I head for an unhealthy full of fat and salt choice. Then I feel guilty. The good thing is that we are aware of it. And hopefully can stop the cycle. Sometimes it helps me to realize I only have control over me....sometimes not.

Can you believe this snow????? :confused3 It stayed. I was so sure it would come and melt. Not so. Very distressing!

Hi Tracy- hugs to you for feeling down! I think we all have those days, but I am glad that you have a great support system in dh to help pick you back up. Plus, you know you can always come here and vent, and we can all relate! :grouphug:

I hear you on the food binge- I was pms'ing something fierce the last couple days. I ate a half of a tray of brownies by myself in 2 days! :eek: At least you had the willpower to stop. I always find it so hard to keep motivated when we get weather like yesterday and today- I couldn't believe it when I woke this morning to snow!!! My daffodils just started blooming a couple days ago!

Best of luck to you on your decision with home-schooling. Making decisions that affect your children are some of the hardest you will ever make in my experience. I have struggled ever since ds was born to balance the roles of mother and wife with my career, and without losing myself along the way. It is never easy, but when I look at him at the end of the day, and think about how blessed my life is with my dh and ds in it, I wouldn't trade for anything. It is obvious how much love you have for your family- I believe you will make the right decision, whatever it may be. Hugs, prayers and pixie dust being sent your way!

Oh, and CONGRATS on the rewards totals! That is awesome!! I need to make it a goal of mine to become a SuperMember on Sunshine, but I keep chickening out on the sign-ups that you have to pay for. Great job!

Lisa

Hey Tracy. Sorry it's been so long. :hug: As always you have a lot going on! Try to take some time out for you! I love that you and your DH will be working out together. I'd love to do that too (with my DH, of course :laughing: )

Take care, and have a GREAT Easter! Our weather man is saying we might have a white Easter. :eek:

Thanks everyone!:goodvibes

Yesterday was another tough day here. We had my niece's 16th birthday party that had been cancelled and re-scheduled yesterday. It was supposed to happen between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and some of the family arrived at 9:30 p.m. DH was steaming mad :mad: and made his feelings known and became the bad guy.:sad2: Being the wonderful man that he is, he stopped debating the issue with his mom, we sang Happy Birthday, gave my niece her gift, and came home. His brothers were very late with no apology and stayed a whole 15 minutes while the rest of us were there 2 hours! Oh well....

This is one of many issues that bothers me. I wanted my to DH to confront it once and for all, but after much prayer and consideration, I realize that venting is not going to change the situation. Let me re-phrase that... It may change the situation, but not the people involved. Only God can change their hearts. I have to remind myself of this frequently and in the meantime, be the best person I can be with His help.

Weekend Plans:

Friday:
* DH has to do a de-install in Cleveland. After that, we will finish Easter shopping and then head to church for the Good Friday service. (If weather permits.... We have about 8-10 inches of snow so far!:scared1: )

Saturday:
* Nothing planned as of yet. However, we don't know what our plans are for Sunday yet, so once we know what's going on, that may change.

Sunday:
* Not sure....We can go to my aunt's for Easter and then spend the rest of the day with my in laws, but my in-laws haven't decided what we are doing yet so we'll see what happens. (Usually, we go to my grandma's house, but she is out of town this year.) Church is at 9:00 a.m.

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter!:hug:

HI Tracy!

I hope you are feeling better!

Sorry to hear about the situation with the party. You are right, you can say something, but most likely it isn't going to change how they are. People must change themselves because they want to not because someone else tells them to. This is one of the things I need to remember myself sometimes, when people do things that drive me crazy! Hang in there!

Good Luck with your decision about your girl's homeschooling. I am sure this will be a difficult decision, but I am sure you and your DH will make the best choice for your girls!!

BTW, I think it is soooo cute that your DD6 cleaned her room and made a bag for charity! That is awesome! I am not sure there are too many 6 year olds out there that would do that.

Hang in there! And have an awesome weekend!

Hi Tracy :hug:
Hope your feeling a little better now.
Your DH sounds like a good man :goodvibes
Made me smile reading about your DD cleaning her room, then it suddenly hit me that my DD has been keeping her room tidy too!!!!
The big tempereture drop will have effected you i'm sure - thats a BIG drop!!!
You cant change family & i think there all pretty much the same the world over!!! They say - you can pick your friends but family your stuck with ;)
Homeschooling fascinates me as its something we dont have here, i'm sure you will come to the right decission in time.
Have a lovely Easter & hope that pesky cold disappears!

Tracy-YOu have alot going on again!!! first of all, i cant believe its still snowing!! that is crazy!

Your family is in my prayers, as always--hope you are able to have a great weekend!!!

Hey, Happy Easter to ya! That weather sounds wild, we're supposed to be sunny in the 70's all weekend.

Aren't in-law's fun? Your stories sound a lot like DW's brothers and their wives, they're always finding excuses not to participate in family things, etc. All we can do is try to not be them!

Tracy sorry about your horrible weather. I'm sure that is affecting your mood. Family issues are always tough. After 17 years of marriage I am only just now starting to reach a point where I do what is best for US, and not be overly stressed about the in-laws. I'm sure you will do what is right on the homeschooling decision. Someone else said that decisions involving your children are some of the hardest to make. That is so true! What are your public schools like? Or maybe it is time to make a move to someplace that has public schools you are comfortable with.:confused3

Seeing your monthly wrap up reminded me that I need to do that.

Hang in there, Tracy, and have a wonderful Easter!

You are so right Tracy...you cannot change people. Its tough because I think sometimes I could do such a good job if only everyone around me would do what I want them to do.:lmao: Alas...they go their own way.

You on the other hand are doing a GREAT job!!!!! Keep on doing what you are doing:banana: :banana: :banana:

Hi Tracy: I am so sorry you had that hassle with your family. I so understand, I go through the same thing with some members (mostly one) of my family and my father in law too. Too much effort put out and not enough given back. It gets old. Its good to reflect on it as you did and realize that people don't really change. All you can change is how you let them affect you. Just stay strong!

I hope you all have a nice Easter! And your dh is right, you can do this together. Don't get discouraged, you have made lots of strides. And remember if you hadn't been doing all that you have done in the past four years you could be up 50 pounds or more from where you started. Instead you have lost some weight, learned a lot about yourself and exercised like a workout queen! So see how much you have accomplished? Feel good about that!:cool1:

Happy Easter Wish Sis and don't give up!:cheer2: :grouphug: :flower3:

Good morning WISH buddies and Happy Easter!:grouphug: Thank you all so much for your understanding, kind words, and encouragement. It is so nice to know that I can come here and vent and people understand. (Unlike my family!:rotfl: )

I had an eye opening moment yesterday.... Around 10:00 p.m., I was hungry and decided to have a little snack. After I ate my snack, I checked out the calories on the package and found out that I had just consumed over 800 calories at 10:00 @ night!:eek: Wow! A huge light bulb moment for me!!:idea: My DH and I discussed it and agree that we are both consuming way more calories than either of us thought. Probably the reason we aren't losing weight....So, we talked about using the Power 90 workouts and maybe their diet plan to get us back on track. We just got the system yesterday so I'll try and sit down at some point today and look everything over.

Today's Plan:

* Kids wake up and find baskets.... Huge Easter egg hunt planned (indoors due to large amounts of snow and 25 degree temps!:eek: )... 50 eggs with money for WDW

* Go to my parents and wish them a Happy Easter....

* Go to a local hotel with my in laws where the kids will have another Easter egg hunt, be able to swim, and play miniature golf and video games. Dinner will be brought to the hotel...

That's about all for today.... My kids just got up so we are off to find baskets and Easter eggs..... Happy Easter everyone! Have a wonderful day!:grouphug:

Happy Easter Tracy! I hope everyone one had fun with the Easter Bunny today:) . The whole calorie thing can be really eyeopening when you first start paying attention. Give fitday or sparkpeople a try. It may be just what you need to give your weightloss journey a jumpstart.

Here's to starting a new week tomorrow! :thumbsup2

Thanks Anna.:hug:

Yesterday was a good day. I had a much better time at the hotel than I thought I would and my girls had a blast!:thumbsup2 They got to swim, play video games, play miniature golf, and ate as many brownies as they wanted. ;) I think we all overate yesterday, but today is a new day with new choices.:thumbsup2

My DH and I are starting the Power 90 workouts today and will work on menus and such during the week ahead. He's ready to lose weight and so am I!:thumbsup2

Today's Plan:

* DH has a de-install in downtown Cleveland and other misc. work things to do today.

* Homeschool

* Laundry

* Workout

* Thrift Stores

* Clean a section of my bedroom

* Rewards Programs research

That's about all... I'm glad free dining will most likely be released this week for the general public. I have a few clients who may book another vacation with me if it works into their schedules.:banana:

Hope everyone has a great day!:cool1:
