Toys for Tots

Toys for Tots starts on November 23, 2007.

Each year the Marine Corp sets up boxes just before the security check point.

We sometimes forget how lucky we are to spend so much time at DL. There are kids out there that might not have a great Holiday because their parents just don't have the means to celebrate Holiday.

Please stop by the Charactger Warehouse at Harbor and Orangethorpe and pick up one or two items and drop them off at DL staring November 23rd. Each time I go to the Warehouse I pick up at least one gift for the next year. I don't miss a few dollars now and then. You can get some nice items for under $10.

Batteries.

I just discovered that I have two Pirate games that need batteries. Each needs 3 batteries so I am just going to tape a package of batteries to each gift.

If you purchase an item that needs batteries please tape them on the gift. It's a big bummer to get a gift you can't play with because you do not have the batteries.

The Dollar Tree (right by the charater warehouse), 99 cents and others have packages of batteries for $1.00

I got a couple of nice TforT gifts last year at Target on Black Friday. The value was well over $10, but I paid a lot less. As an added bonus, last year at the Marine Corps Toys for Tots booth, they were also giving out a special pin if you donated toys. Not sure if they are doing that again, but hopefully it is added incentive for all you pin collectors!

Thanks, I will totally be donating this year! I was just thinking about how lucky I am to have a roof over my head, food in my tummy, nice car to drive and the ability to take nice vacations to Disneyland every year. Every other year my and my husband adopt a family through our church and do Christmas for them instead of ourselves because after all, giving to others is the true meaning of Christmas!

Even if you aren't visiting Disney, there are donations points all over the place. It really means a lot to kids when they receive something for the holidays, and it really means something to the parents when they are able to have gifts for them to open.

I think at Knotts you can get in free when you donate toys worth $10 or more. We did that last year. I just wanted to go to the Christmas Craft Fair, and they raised the price, so it was worth it to me to buy the gift & donate it instead of paying to get in the park.

Yes this is usually the case... they hold this usually for two weekends at Knotts and Magic Mountain. You bring a toy worth at least 10.00 and you get free admission.. It is a great deal.... plus you help many others and teach your kids a valuable lesson.....
We usually pick one park or the other to go to each year..

Thanks for the reminder, it's always a great thing to think of! We're not local but we do it here in Colorado too. I'll start shopping for kids right away!

We don't usually do Toys for Tots but I'll get the girls to drop something in the box while we're there.

Every year, the girls each pick a card off the Angel Tree and I take one off the Senior Tree at our local mall. Then we head off to find something based on what the children and senior want. It's become a family tradition and the girls really look forward to it. They are already saving up their money to buy the gifts.
