Toyota Highlander vs Honda Pilot

I drove both and bought a Pilot EXL. I thought it rode better, that the seats were more comfortable, and that the rear seats were roomier. The Pilot is built on the Odyssey minivan platform, and the Highlander is built on the Camry platform, so it makes sense that the Highlander would ride more like a car. That said, the Pilot rides nothing like a truck. I drove an Explorer before--now that rides like a truck. I now have a CRV because I didn't need the third-row seats. I wish I'd kept the Pilot because it was so much more comfortable.

When you say it "got to" 106K miles.....was something wrong with it at 106K miles or did you just decide to get a new car? 106K is pretty low. Our Saturn currently has 150K miles and is still running strong.....we expect our Toyota to get to over 200K miles easily....it currently has 70K miles and has never had any trouble.

Currently on my second Highlander. Will never drive another car! :)
First one got to 106k miles, never had anything done other than routine maintenance. Got my second one (2008, Sport edition) one year ago today. LOVE IT!

Keep buying American built FOREIGN cars, and the economy will never recover. The economy is too closely tied to the Big 3, please consider buying from them.

We had two Highlanders, an 04 and an 08. We bought the 04 brand new when DD was a baby, w/o thinking of the need for a third row. We loved the car. It was very functional and we never had any problems with it. It got incredible gas mileage. DH got a transfer closer to home and a raise last year (remember what those were?) so he said we could look at another car w/3rd row seats. I liked the looks of the new Highlander style, but was open to others, as in the Pilot. My Bro has one and has been very pleased with it. I checked them both out. I really liked the Highlander better, the way it handles, the safety reports, the comfort, and the 3rd row is big enough to allow DH and myself to sit, he's 6'4" and I"m 5'9". That said, he was in a nasty accident last week which totaled the 04. thank God he was driving that instead of the Honda Civic we just sold, he'd be dead I believe. A head-on collision w/a pickup. smashed the crap out of the front of the car, but the passenger cabin was completely intact, none of the windows even broke out. I hate to have to see the quality of a car that way, but it's definitely a telling sign of what you've bought. Now we're looking for a new car. Another Highlander? Maybe, he says he'd love to have another one! HTH
