Anyone heard when this resturant might be taking reservations? I called to book for Decemember and they are not taking ressies yet.

I called today to make PS's here and none of the Dining CMs have heard of "Tokyo" Dining. They only show TeppanEdo as the restaurant which has both menus shown that allearsnet shows.

Kinda confusing because one of the menus specializes in sushi and other has hot entrees and/or hibatchi items. I wanted the hibatchi but looking at the photos of the restaurant it seems to have hibatchi grills and regular tables so not sure how they'd know which area you'd want to sit in. T

he CMs at WDW dining don't seem to know the answer to this either??:confused3 I made PS's for us at TeppanEdo and they told me the hibatchi items were on that menu..so I'm pretty confused...:confused3

There are photos of both Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo on the DIS. Here's the link: http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/Mitsukoshi/index.htm

On the DIS Unplugged Podcast there was a review of Tokyo Dining so it must be open. I just made ADRs for TE, but didn't ask about TD.

The regular tables appear to be at TD, while the hibachi grills are in TE.

Epcot's newest restaurant Tokyo Dining, is now available to book. In Tokyo Dining, Mitsukoshi will proudly present a new table service location with a full line-up of authentic Japanese cuisine and beverages with a sophisticated contemporary presentation in an upscale, elegant environment representative of modern Tokyo. Tokyo Dining will offer a full-scale Sushi menu highlighting the authentic and artistic creation. Guests can even watch as the Sushi is being made.

A few reminders:
- Only Teppan Edo is available to book with the Candlelight Dining Package
- Tokyo Dining is sold by the table, not by the seat as with Teppan Edo
- The restaurant that serves Teppan-style is Teppan Edo - Meals are cooked by the chefs at the table
- Tokyo Dining will also be an Epcot EMH dining location.

If you call to make a booking and the CM has no idea what you're talking about, tell them to look it up under "Book Fine Dining" in the Dining Reservations System or ask them to check with their supervisor. This restaurant went live in the booking system yesterday afternoon late in the day.

Hope this helps!

BTW, it is on the DDP and is a 1 TS restaurant. I just called and made an ADR without any difficulty at all.

Just made an ADR for 10/30. Easy - had choice of times. CM had no problem finding and booking.

Anyone know if they take DDE?

Teppanyaki, now Teppan Edo, never took the DDE, so I'm thinking that they may continue to not take DDE (they are not owned by Disney). I would love to find out for sure as well.

Tiger :)

Did the other restaurant in Japan take DDE? I have reservations at Tokyo Dining and would really like to know if they will take DDE.

Hoping yes, but expecting to hear no, LOL!

As I said in my post above, Teppanyaki did not take DDE (we found out the hard way one day, as it was the first time we had eaten here, and Disney Dining CM told us it did take DDE).

Yes, I got that. But I am not interested in Teppanyaki, now called Teppan Edo. I am looking for info on Tokyo Dining - which is the restaruant that overlooks World Showcase lagoon. It used to be called Tempura Kiku.

Sorry if I wasn't clear with the question.

I am sorry - I became confused when you said 'other' instead of 'former.' I am assuming that since they didn't take DDE before, they won't now. Hoping to here about this as well, although we are using Deluxe Dining Plan next time, but for a future trip it's good to know.

Hopefully, one of us can get the answer soon, Tiger :)

Just an updated, I was able to get a ressie on Saturday. The CM even asked me how I knew they were already taking ressies. She just found out that morning about an hour before I called. I said, I know it all, I'm a DIS'er :thumbsup2

I just tried and you have to call them directly for a table of 12 instead of group dining - strange. And I'm not getting an answer at the number they gave me.

I ate at Teppan Edo last week. Unfortunately, it does not accept the DDE card.

While I understand that it is a newly refurbished restaurant trying to work the kinks out, I think it needs much improvement. My main complaint was the slow service. It took two hours to have dinner from the time we were seated at the table (this is even with us skipping the desserts). The chef even forgot to include the shrimp for one meal. He also lacked the "presentation" that I'm used seeing at similar restaurants in my hometown. I have ADRs to eat there again during my next trip in February but I may have to reconsider them based on other reviews in the coming months.

Just made ressies for tokyo dining on Jan 31 for DBf birthday. The guy over the phone who made the ressies said he couldnt note that it would be dbf bday  I've had some people said they can and some say that they cant...

Eh oh well, we'll just have to be cheery when we get there--hopefully we'll get some free cupcake or something!! Hehe

Dbf and i saw the recent renovations on our past oct 13-15 trip and noted how BEAUTIFUL it looked in there. Also, I think that Tokyo Dining can be a great place to watch the fireworks. probably not with the music piped in though... but oh well. We know this b/c we always watch illuminations on the 2nd floor of the mitsukoshi.
