Family of four. We will be in HS on December 16th, 2015. We plan to make the rope drop or do a 8AM breakfast. Should we go for Toy Story or Rock n Roller Coaster for our Tier One FP+? Our other priorities are Star Tours (want to ride multiple times) and Tower of Terror (ride at least twice.)

Thanks for the advice!

If you have plans to ride Toy Story, then FP it.

You can ride RnR with a low wait at rope drop. Ride RnR first, then ToT. Then have FP's set up for Toy Story, ToT, and Star Tours. That way you ride everything including ToT twice.

FP+ TSM
RD RNRC
do TOT right after RNRC.

although i would not try for an 8am ADR if you RD RNRC since you may not get there right at RD and you may not care to go on RNRC directly after a big breakfast.

Fast pass toy story and rope drop RNR.

Unfortunately RNR has had issues lately, but based on my experience, the FP is more needed for TSMM.

Unless...

You arrive at the gate no later than 7:30 and head Straight to TSMM. We had a 30 minute wAit last weekend and that was with picking a bad line at the entrance. That only had 2 ticket readers and one wa a broken. We has a FP for RNR and it did break down at 9:30, so our pass was valid anytime the rest of the day once it reopened.

Agree with everyone else. Far fewer people will be rushing to Rock n Roller Coaster than to Toy Story Mania at Rope Drop, so you'll have the shortest waits by Fast Passing Toy Story Mania.

The order of rides, from most busy to shortest line, would be TSMM / RnRC / ToT / ST. Multiple rides ST in the morning shouldn't be a problem. If you want multiple rides ToT, you should try to ride it standby in first hour (and/or try to get a 4th FP at kiosk once you use the first three). TSMM standby line is to be avoided unless you go straight there at rope drop. Which of the Tier 1 rides you FP can depend on if you want to ride any of them multiple times, and if you are willing to ride RnRC using the single rider line?

How do you get on Toy Story twice with that plan? (Without a long wait that is).

My advice doesn't have Toy Story being ridden twice. Really the only way to ride Toy Story without a long wait is to beat everyone there at rope drop, or try to wait until close to park closing. Do that and have a FP for another time would be the best way to ride it without waiting an hour

When we don't really care - the rule of thumb in my family is take the FP+ for the longer ride.

Toy Story.

Given your preferences:
-- At rope drop - Ride Rock'n'Coaster (9-9:20)
-- Ride Tower of Terror (9:20-9:40am)
-- Ride Tower of Terror again - maybe use 9:30am-10:30am FP+
-- Ride Star Tours (10am-10:30)
You should not need a Star Tour FP+, but you can use here (FP+ 10:30-11:30).
-- Ride Star Tours with FP+ (10:30am-11am)
-- at 11:31am - get 4th FP+ for Tower Terror, Star Tours, or even Rock'n'Coaster
-- Toy Story FP+ (11:30am-12:30pm)

If you want to try for Toy Story more than once, start at Toy Story at Rope Drop. Then follow above schedule.

Oh, OK. I interpreted your post as riding everything on your list two times. Anyway, when we were there in April, we were one of the first in line at rope drop, pretty much walked right onto TSM. We figured we'd ride it back to back. When we hopped in line for the second round (at about 9:20) the posted wait time was 30 min. We ended up waiting almost an hour.

That's unfortunate but not really surprising. Before FP+, we could almost always get in two TSMM standby rides at rope drop before line got crazy. With old paper FP, first available FP return time was something like 9:40am-10:40am, so you could ride TSMM twice standby before people start returning with paper FP. But with FP+, we saw people using their FP as early as 9:05am, that slows down the line. On our trip in April, we rode TSMM at rope drop and didn't even consider riding back-to-back, although that was also because we wanted to get to RnRC because we didn't have a FP for it.

I definitely agree FP+ for TSMM but I just wanted to caution you, make your way to RnR as soon as possible. We slacked off a little and the line was all the way to Sunset BLVD, granted it moved pretty fast because the "snaking" lines weren't set up but still we ended up waiting much longer than we should have (about 45 minutes I think).

Definitely Toy Story b/c the line gets ridiculous for stand by. Tower of Terror you can easily get 2 or more rides on. There are times in the day where the wait is only 20-30 minutes in December.

Another vote for Toy Story! Although, we've done RD, Toy Story with about a 10 minute wait, then hustled to RnRC with about a 20 minute wait, when HS was the least recommended park in early May. This was our last day and we just wanted to hit favorites before moving on to MK, where we had FP booked.

I just made our FP's yesterday at exactly midnight and TOTALLY forgot about Toy Story until I was on my way into work (by train) and reading another tread that mentioned Toy Story. I know that TSMM is a family style or everyone can ride attraction and RRC is mostly for thrill seekers but my eldest and I love this ride and would often FP it using the old system to avoid the long stand by lines from the past. This is our first trip since 2013 when FP+ wasn't widely used. I even consulted with both of my kids and so when I got into the office and decided to keep the FP's the way they were figuring I could just get into the park and head straight over to TSMM. Fast forward to this morning's commute - I stumbled onto this tread and was convinced to change my FP to TSMM and just arrive to the park early to ride RRC hoping the stand by line wouldn't be so crazy first thing in the AM. I was lucky enough that TSMM had lot's of options for me to change things multiple times before finding a time that worked for our schedule.

Thanks for helping me see the light!

Skip FP for ST, unless there is nothing else you want to FP. The last couple trips there has been very little wait for that ride and at times the SB was actually shorter than FP. This was during spring break (busy) this year and the first week of June last year.

I echo what others have said, RD RNR, TSM FP for later. Maybe grab breakfast after RNR/TOT at Starring Roles?
