SO, is this a ride that you either do first thing or skip?

Is this like Nemo where if I choose to go straight to it I give up my first hour of the park to do it when I could be doing multiple other rides?

I was thinking that since I will be there on Thursday afternoon, Friday, Saturday, Sunday that one day I could start at DL then hop to DCA and do it first thing at opening then maybe a couple other things and hop back, then on another day do the rest of the cool stuff at DCA when opening hits while others go to TSMM.

THoughts?

You could do like we did on July 4 - While everyone was over at Disneyland during fireworks, we rode Screamin once and then did TSMM several times in a row with short waits, up until they closed. :)

i have seen this advice before, about riding rides at DCA during the DL fireworks, but DCA closes at 9 and the fireworks aren't until 9:25. i'm confused?? going to be there in 3 days:confused:

That plan works out great, so that you don't have to deal with the huge lines! :thumbsup2
Who can't get bored with TSMM? I know I can't!

You know, it was open until 10:00 on the 4th. Maybe that was a one time thing? :confused3 I'm not sure...

When I was there at the end of June, the line for TSM was actually shorter by 1 - 2 in the afternoon. It was only 60 minutes. You might want to keep that in mind as well.

We rode it several times last week and the line was only 40-45 minutes long each time. I don't stand in lines that are any longer than that. :goodvibes

Here's a BEST AND SECRET TIP.

If you want a short wait, do the single rider line! This works well if you don't have to sit by your family. We just instructed our DS (9) to wait for us right outside the exit if he got off first. Worked wonderfully!

Our wait the two times we did it was less than 10 minutes.

DS loved it!

Thanks for this great tip! We'll be getting to DLR around noon on Friday, and will try the single rider line this weekend! FP has really spoiled me, and I don't know what I'd do in a line that is longer than 20 minutes:eek:

This is great BUT it is not always opened. We tired it a couple weeks ago and they told us to come back in a few hours and it might be opened. The line was about 85 minutes at that time. I am very surprised there is not a Fast Pass for this ride...

When we were there last week (17th-20th), we got in line one day at opening and was in line next to ride at about 10:05 am! (but the ride broke down...so we were still in line for an hour, until 11 am but they did give up passes to re-enter without a wait). We decided the next day that we really wanted to ride it again...according to the wait signs, the line was about 50 minutes long but the line moved fast and we got on the ride in about 35 minutes. It really is worth waiting for.

I asked a CM about why there is no fastpass and she said that Disney wants to start phasing it out because they are losing money on it (due to ink and paper)? She said she thinks they will keep it for current attractions for now, but that they want to phase it out in the next 5 years. I will be very sad if she is right about this...

Single rider is definitely an option since it is just two adults going. Am I hearing correctly that the single rider line is only used periodically? Also, nobody has any opinion on whether going first off is the right way to do it or not? Is it too chaotic? Does it waste too much time when you could be doing other stuff? Or is first thing the way to go?

Thanks

Okay, I did not see a single rider line for this at all.

We rode it last weekend, twice. Once on Saturday afternoon and once on Sunday afternoon. Each time we waited about 30-35 minutes. Not bad for a brand new ride.

So, no, I'm not sure spending an hour outside the ropes of CA from 9-10 am would be time well spent. But I will tell you I did see people lined up outside of CA at 9am on Tuesday morning, and I guess that is what they were there for. Perhaps if you get to ride over and over in the morning, it might be worth the wait. But I think that hour is better spent at DL and then just wait the 30 minutes for Toy story in the afternoon.

We were there July 13th. We got there when it opened, headed to Soarin first, and got on in the first group there. We then went over to TSMM and it was already an 80 minute wait. There was no single rider "line", but there was a small sign up that said "single rider" to the left of where everyone else was boarding the ride. We asked the CM member standing there if it was for a single rider line and if we could be in it. He said yes, and there is space for you right now and ushered us on the ride. No wait at all! So, if you don't see a single rider line, you might ask a CM to be sure.

Yes, this ride is worth it! I enjoyed every second of it. On Monday morning (July 21st) we showed up around 9:45 at DCA, hopped in the super long line waiting near Soarin', and began a slow but steady journey towards TSMM. We finally rode at 10:30. That was the longest I've waited for a ride in a LONG time. I had no idea it could be a 30 minute wait later on in the day, or I would have come back (maybe).

I think it's worth spending 30-45 minutes in line. As I said to my new DH, "How often can you look back and say, 'I remember the very first time I rode that ride'?"

(P.S. While the single rider line sounds great, I personally would not have had as much fun if I wasn't next to my DH and competing in real time.)

WE were there in July also, we waited in line, the sign said 40 min. but it was more like 30-35. Well worth the wait!! We loved it so much and had such a great time we got right off and back on in the single rider line. All 4 of us, we got into the line and walked right back on. It worked out that DD8 and I were in the same car so that was neat, actually, DD12, DD8 and I were in the same car (DD8 and I sat next to each other) and DBF was in the car behind us. We tried to do single rider again after but it was closed....and it stayed closed for the rest of our trip. :( We were sad but since we rode it twice we didn't stress much. Gives us something to look forward to next trip. So, no, the single rider line isn't always open but the regular line moves really fast.
