Toy Story Mania - Unofficial Guide V Ridemax

Thanks for the heads up Hydro Guy - I did check all the documents that were sent to me when I purchased Ridemax as well as the terms and Conditions on the website. Unlike the Tour Guide Mike service there was nothing in them requesting you to keep the information from Ridemax confidential, so I just assumed it was OK to post the info.

I'm a rule follower from wayback so I won't do it again :o (I was VERY careful not to divulge any of my Tour Guide Mike information from last year :) )
I was just wondering if this restriction also extends to books - e.g. is it also a mistake to refer to advice that appears in the Unofficial Guide?

Thanks also for your advice re the rides :)

It's a grey area for sure. You are right that RM does not tell you that you cannot use their general information this way. This differs from their protection of their itinerary information which is their bread and butter.

TGM on the other hand is more protective of their park advice because that is what they are about.

I guess another way to look at it is that if you pay for RM, then sharing their advice to non-paying people means you pay for it while they do not. But as I said, RM does not have any forums and you have no real avenue for questions like this. So I completely understand why you would come here. That is why I was kind of wishy-washy in my post.

I hope someday RM can have their own forums for subscribers. As it is, I suspect they do not mind threads like this very much because it gets them more exposure.

As for books, I think copyright law says you can divulge sections from books in small quantities. If you summarize the book in your own words, like you did here for RM, then it is OK for you to discuss it at length as long as you are not quoting verbatim. This is kind of similar if you posted a RM question here on why RM says to pick up FPs in a particular order.

Oh yeah! I forgot all about that. I guess that didn't really work out so well did it.

I was just wondering the other day if afternoons were still a good strategy for going on TSMM so I'm glad the subject came up. :)

When we were there in June, it still worked out best to go in the afternoon. And also suppose it is down at rope drop? Then you waited there for nothing. :confused3 I came up with the afternoon theory long before I tried out Ridemax and even posted it here awhile back. So in my mind, I came up with that strategy and Ridemax only confirmed my theory. ;)

Again, the wait is not as long as the skeptics think it is;), especially if you do it the way I explained in my earlier post (which apparently worked for some other DIS-ers as well), so you won't have wasted too much time in line, and you may benefit greatly from it. And what are the chances of TSMM being broken down every time the rope drop crowd gets to the line? Not very high! Maybe once in a great while! It's no more of a disaster than any other ride in DLR breaking down after you have spent time in line, except this wait will be shorter.

I just think you nay-sayers should try the GRR line method for yourselves first before dismissing it, and try it the way I broke it down for you! I tried the 'ride TSMM in the afternoon' drill just so I would have both experiences under my belt, after all, and would know which one was better for me!:goodvibes

For anyone wondering about going on TSMM right before the park closes...

Last time we were there, first week of June, we went on TSMM every day, at least 2 or three times. The second night we were out doing something with the In-Laws when we saw it was like 8:30. We parked, took the tram, and walked with purpose to get there before the park closed We hightailed it over to TSMM thinking we would have a super short wait. We got the line only to see it still, as ALWAYS, had a 40 minute wait.

They let people get in line right up to 9 PM. Then a CM followed the last person in and even the person who got in line at 9 PM was still waiting by the Mr. Potato head. Everyone still had a good 30-35 minute wait.

So my conclusion, the morning is better. However, as stated by previous people, we would arrive at the gates at 9:15, wait for 15 min for park opening, and then "walk" to the TSMM line by GRR, to then wait for another 20 minutes to be slowly walked down to the line where finally around 10:10 we were actually on the ride (so 50 minute wait time?). And when we finished riding it by 10:15ish, the line had already started to weave itself up the ramp towards Ariels Grotto But when you got an obessive TSMM DH, you'll wait even longer. Its okay though, because then I get to do whatever I want for the rest of the day.

We've gone at RD, RD without the special line, right before the park closes, 15 minutes before the park closes, 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM, - weekends, weekdays and guess what? That entire week the sign always said....

See, we wouldn't have started the 'wait time' at 9:15. We would have used that extra 15 minutes for something else and then we would walk into DCA at or just after 9:30 a.m, then over to the line by GRR, and then by the time we got to that short line, the wait to begin the walk over to TSMM would be very short because the CMs usually start walking you over well before 10:00. And we made it into the queue for TSMM by 10:00, whereas other DIS-ers are on the ride before 10:00 a.m. If we are in transit, walking somewhere, I don't count that as wait time. I only count the standing still in lines as wait time. So our wait for TSMM was not long before we were moving from Point A to Point B. It may be different for some folks, who get CMs patroling the lines who don't want to budge until 10:00 a.m. on the dot, but that was not our experience.

My friend also did the before-closing TSMM ride, and she said the same thing you said, Hurleysweety - the line was just as long right before closing as it was the rest of the day!! There was no escaping it.

I wonder what is the magic formula for when they have the special line?? That would be good to know before making the plan.

I just returned from a weeks trip with my family. While my wife and son went to DL, I spent the morning by myself in DCA. Single rider lines are the way to go. Between 10am and 12:30pm, I rode TSMM five times straight in one hour while meeting some really fun people, switched over to California Screamin' and rode that five times, and since it was getting hot, walked up to GRR and rode that four times.

It was nice just floating around by myself, and my wife even took time to do it herself after hearing how nice my time was.

We just got back. The parks were pretty crowded.

On Monday we entered DCA around 9:30 and rode Soarin. We got off a couple of minutes before 10:00, and made it to the main rope drop area just in time to see the drop and to see most of the people hightailing it over to the screamin' and toy story area. So, we were probably a minute or two behind the main rope drop crowd. We didn't run but also didn't exactly meander. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes. It wasn't bad at all. I figured in the height of summer on a non-DL early entry day, it would have been worse. But it was fine. The park did get pretty crowded later in the day, though, and lines always looked long.

We took the bridge that goes by Ariel's Grotto. Seems there were lots of people going the long way.

We will be going in August and I was thinking the same thing.
Why wait 45 min. before the park opens when you can just go later and wait 45 min. in line.

I hate waiting in line and would rather get a fast pass but since they don't have any I will have to go on at least one time during our trip.

I would rather wait inside cooling off and checking out Andy's room then waiting outside in the hot sun.
Anyone else gone lately and could tell us how long you waited and what time of day it was.

The line at DCA is outside, not an inside line as in Florida. It is shaded with big umbrellas, but still, outdoors.
We just went last Tuesday, grabbed Soarin' fastpasses on the way to Toy Story, and got in line at approx 10:35, the wait was 20 minutes by then. When we got off, the line was 45 min. we didn't see it below 45 min all day. But when we went in early June, it was a 20 min line in the afternoon.

i:love:disney.....great information. :thumbsup2

A couple of questions:

- Was it a typical crowded summer day at DLR? (70+ min. lines at SM & Indy in the afternoon, etc.)

- & did you first visit DL prior to entering DCA? (if you hopped across the esplanade, how long was the line entering DCA at 10:15-10:25?)

Thanks.

question....... where is the scooter entrance on TSM ? How many of my kids can go thru with me at one time? thanks :)

The single rider line at TSMM is a wild card that can really change the wait time.

We generally find it to be a 30-40 minute wait midday- early evening, midweek.

Lines are just part of the day. We get a "portable lunch," snack or cold treat before we hop in a longer line. Eat, talk, plan while we wait. Before we know it, front of the line.
