Any UK disers at WDW now who've experienced the TSMM standby-less test first hand?
(The test from Oct. 6 - Oct. 9)

Heard from a friend yesterday who said the queue was out the door. TBH I'm a little confused on how it's going to improve the queuing process !!!?

Are they giving out more fp+ to compensate?

yes, but people who were there on the first day of it reported that the FP+ ran out at about noon..
so anyone trying after that was not able to ride the ride at all.

the disturbing thing about this test is it was done without any warning.
So people got there, with their plans in hand, and discovered the rules had been changed without notice.

there were people who had a FP+ for RNRC (also tier 1) and were planning on going standby at TSMM at rope drop. But they couldn't.

There are also reports that the ride cars were going out empty (pictures were posted on twitter of empty cars).

Also, there is no DAS during the test. So if anyone arriving after 12:00 had planned on using DAS to ride this ride, they were out of luck.

the main problem is that they tested without notice.
Using people who've paid a small fortune for their holiday as guinea pigs.

It's pretty disturbing.

But i'd be interested in hearing first hand accounts from UK board disers.

rumor has it that there could be a third track coming
currently there are 2 tracks operating (left and right of the loading dock)

A 3rd one could be constructed, leading to 2 FP+ only tracks, and 1 Standby/ADA track. (basically a new ride dedicated to SB users, the existing ride being FP+ only)

The test is supposed to check what would happen with a 2 tracks TSMM rolling on FP+ only.
Standby riders would have a separate ride

but that's only rumored so far. And just like the soarin' test, it looks like chaos ...

From what I understand it FP only, hence the long queue. They are testing this on the back of trying to reduce the wait time for Anna & Elsa M&G.They have increased the number of FP+ by handing out more in the park.

Looks like we all replied at the same time :-)
I heard this too.
It seems HS is going to be going through big big changes. Exciting times ahead, just hope they announce something soon. The cynic in me thinks Disney set these rumours up to get people like us talking thus creating buzz around the whole thing!

oh and now that we're at it :p I've seen new guides, one with the new projected MK hub and in the same series, a HS guide with ... no sorcerer's hat ... :)

looks like they might get rid of it in the end :cool1:

WHAT? NOoooo :faint: Why don't we do away with Spaceship Earth and Cinderelllas Castle while we're at it :scratchin;)

the sorcerer's hat isn't the same as either of those two icons..
the hat is relatively new and for those of us who went to the park before they stuck it in there, it's very disturbing and disruptive to the view of the park as you enter...

(DHS opened in 1989, the hat was added in 2001)

I don't like these FP+ only tests especially in parks with tiering where you are already having to make a choice between 2 rides.

For us TSM is a take it or leave it kind of a ride however if I book a FP for A&E then end up waiting in an hour line as was reported in the last test there I will be a very unhappy customer

The whole sales pitch behind FP has always been "return to the ride or attraction with little or no wait time" and these tests are not doing that. :headache:

I remember MGM pre-hat - its icon was the earful tower :thumbsup2

I like the option of a normal queue. In feb one early evening the rain came down about 7 and the park emptied. Got to ride tsm 3 times in a row with no queue. Now if the park empties it will surely mean the rude is just empty which would be a shame.

As a side disney needs some new big family tides in hs as tsm isnt that great

TSM might not have the highest turnaround of riders (900 per hour) but it is still significantly higher than a meet and greet.

If a family of four went to see A&E how long would they need at just 1 minute attention per person - that effectively means only 60 people per hour and I think that is wishful thinking.

No amount of testing new queuing or FP distribution methods will fix this - the simple problem is demand is outstripping supply.

For TSM the suggestion of a new track goes some way to addressing the problem for A&E the only option is to have multiple opportunities to meet them (not even the most expensive thing to do either) why not just create a temporary meet in the Norway area and add them to an area in HS - who is going to complain?

I think more Frozen stuff than WDW already has/introducing might just tip some on here off the edge of the Fiord ;-)

i agree with everything you wrote

and as i've said, the fact that they removed the standby option unannounced is truly disturbing...
i'm sure if i were there, i would take myself over to guest relations and give them more than a piece of my mind....
it's unacceptable that they carry out a test of this nature over 4 days, using paying guests as guinea pigs without any advance warning..

and to eliminate all use of the DAS card at this attraction during the 4 day test is beyond belief. Very disturbing.
