So...after spending last April winding our way through DCA, following the masses of people to Toy Story Mania as the park opened, I'm wondering if the lines have calmed down since the ride is no longer quite so new.

Has it gotten any better, or are we still gonna need to make that our first ride of the DCA morning?

Thanks for any advice!

My prediction is that since it is still "all the rage" there are going to be some considerable lines. That ride is really popular and with any popular ride, there are going to be lines whether its brand new or years old. Look at Splash Mountain or the Matterhorn.

I went in October and the line was 45 minutes at the quietest time of the week long trip.

It was still super-crowded during the beginning of December (on a weekday...in the rain ). I'm guessing it's not changed much in the past couple of months, so you'll probably have to make a mad dash for it first thing in the morning if you don't want to stand in line for 1 hour +...

We went Thursday 2/25 and it was only 20' first thing. On Sunday we went first thing and it was 40' so it depends on the day.

We were there today (Sunday 3/7) and in the afternoon the line was 45 minutes long. I rarely see it any shorter or longer then 45 minutes.

We were just there this Thursday and it was the only ride we didn't go on because of the wait. We went on soarin' 4 times because there was no wait.

These replies make me very happy. I haven't been on TSM at DL yet, - going this Nov. - I have only been on it in DW where the wait are regularly 90 - 120 min. The waits are also the same for Soarin. I am so excited to rides these rides with shorter lines!!

The TSMM wait pattern at DCA has been very strange. Rather than start short in the morning and then build and go down at night, it seems to get long right away and, often, go down throughout the day.

We went last year in May and August and this happened both times. In May the line was down to 20 minutes late afternoon, and in August it was 30 minutes late afternoon. This was after 40-60 minute lines in the morning. Note that DCA TSMM does not have FP like DHS does.

Here is a guess at what will happen in the future:

o After DCA ends the refurb in 2012 the park hours will change - open earlier and close later.

o Traffic patterns will change all over the park including Paradise Pier.

o This will affect everything including TSMM. It will take some pressure off TSMM but it will also bring increased traffic to DCA.

Rope drop story:

So, we always try to be at rope drop at DCA for TSMM.

Weekend before last was no different (except I was solo). On Saturday, I waited at the rope on the near the water fall on GRR on the path to the Pacific Wharf and Bug's Land. It had been raining, so the park wasn't that busy and there was maybe a 30 minute wait for TSMM at opening.

Fastforward to Sunday morning...I decided (in the interest of science), I would see what was on the other side of the mountain, so I took a right past, went past Soarin'...and hit the motherlode.

On this side there is a separate line dedicated to TSMM. About 10 minutes before opening, they started walking us down to Paradise Pier and we were in line at opening....maybe a 10 minute wait.

I'm not sure if this is done everyone day, but it's worth a try.

Every time we've gone the wait has always been 40-60 minutes. It didn't matter what time of year - or at least that's what it seemed like to us. So i was really excited when DS and I went to DCA 2 weeks ago and the line was only 15 minutes at 1pm! I've never seen it that short. We'll be there again in a few weeks during spring break and I'm expecting 60 minute waits.

The MOST I have ever seen was 45 min and that was in the afternoon right after X-mas but it did not take that long at all!

I was there yesterday at about 3:40ish and the wait time said 45 and we started farther back from that point but it was still actually more like 30 minutes. I think with all the zig zags and so much rope to walk through there ends up being more gaps in the line from people not paying attention, kids playing, ect.

We went the Next day at Rope drop on Monday at stayed to the right by GRR. They kept us there until 10am. They did the same on Thursday.

We were there Feb 23 -26 generally between noon and 4pm and the line was never listed as more than 20 minutes and it really moved fast. Waiting in line at Indy seemed longer.

This trip they had no single rider lines, like they did last year. Maybe they do that when the line gets up to over a hour.

We were there in early December and waited 20 minutes. However it was cold and rainy that day.
