Hi guys - if you had to choose between making a FP ahead of time for TSM or Aliens which one would you pick?

We've done TSM every trip we've taken since it opened & love it. But not making a FP for a new ride like Aliens seems wrong. So I'm totally stuck between the two. Whichever one we don't make the FP for we'll end up waiting in line for (no rope drop for this one) if that helps.

Thank you!

If you've never been then I'd make the FP for Aliens. It's apparently low capacity (we haven't been) and not something you want to wait on. Maybe it's one and done but at least you've experienced it. But I feel your pain. It seems just wrong to FP that before TSMM.

I've been keeping an eye on wait times for these two rides, and there isn't much difference between them, but TSM seems to run consistently 5 to 10 minutes longer.

So we think we'll do TSM at Rope Drop immediately followed by Aliens.

Those were our choices for next week too. I chose Alien swirl being that it's new and we haven't done it. We're going to Toy Story area for the 1st time and hoping to just standby for Toy story mania.

What ages are in your group? We were so disappointed with AS2 (I have a teen). TSM is still better IMO.
Agree! My teens/young adults definitely prefer TSM! (I do, too!). We used our FP for Slinky Dog (which we loved), waited about 30 minutes for Alien and got a 4th FP later for TSM.

I have heard it is but I have never been
Thanks! Mater was a fun ride. Different than any others in the Disney Parks.

I was worried it was another "Dumbo" or "Aladdin's Magic Carpets" or "Tricera Top Spin" style ride. We don't need any more of those!

It is Not one of those rides. It stays in the ground and goes around 3 circle

I would hate to waste a FP on AS2. I understand not wanting to wait long for it as well.
Its a fun ride, but would never wit long for it.
If you are there close to RD, the line to SDD will be long, but neither AS2 or TSMM will have much of a line until about 30 minutes after opening.

Depends on the ages of your party. We are two adults and were not impressed with AS2 at all. More for small children IMO. Toy Story Mania is fun.

Depending on when you plan to leave the park you'll be able to do both, if not all 3 TSL rides in the last hour the park is open! We were at DHS the 2nd week of December so it was busy. We made our way to TSL about 90 mins before park closing and rode SDD using a FP. From there we were able to ride Aliens and TSM and just make it into line for a second ride on SDD arriving at 7:58 on an 8:00 closing evening.

If you're at the park late and not planning of going to any of the nighttime entertainment, this is a great option!!

Over Thanksgiving, a busy week, we did a FP for TSM one day and rope dropped Alien Saucer on a different day. Our FP for TSM still took about 20 minutes, while we were literally the only people on Alien Saucer. We could have ridden Saucers again with no wait, but decided to stick to our schedule. When walking out of Toy Story Land after riding Saucers (it was Thanksgiving Day), TSM standby was already up to 45 minutes. Based on that experience, I would definitely use the same approach again, and do FP for TSM and rope drop Alien Saucer. Saucers is a quicker ride as well and it provides a better opportunity to ride again or get somewhere else earlier than does TSM.

If you like TSM, you may want to consider waiting until later in the evening for some quick rerides. We get pretty competitive on it, and are usually able to ride at least 4 times during the last hour of operation with little to no waiting.

I don't think my scores really improve that much though but we do like to keep trying.
