Hi Everyone, was just curious if you think there will be any special events at DLR when Toy Story 3 comes out?? And if so, do you think it will be that day or at another time?? Wasn't sure if there has been any talk about it or not. Sometimes I am slow to hear things. But just thought it would be cool to be out there if something was going to go on.:goodvibes

I think it's possible there may be a special "one-day-only" pin or something? I personally doubt there will be anything else special on that day only, but I don't know.

Sometimes Disney has a pre-parade--just a float with the main characters that comes before the main parade; I know they did that for Bolt and Up). In the case of Princess and the Frog they even did a full (albeit short) show several times daily.

They also gave away magnetic Princess and the Frog bookmarks at the Cafe Orleans around the time of the movie (we ate there the day before it premiered officially).

I think the difference is that the Toy Story franchise is already pretty amply represented in the parks, so I'm not sure that Disney will do much of anything, aside from new merchandise and maybe some freebies. They certainly don't need to promote the movie to raise awareness of the characters :flower3: and I'm not sure why they would want to add Toy Story characters to parades and rides that already feature them!

Refresh my memory - when is the new Toy Story musical replacing Aladdin in DCA? That is one thing that will most definitely build on what will undoubtedly be the huge popularity of "Toy Story 3," but I cannot recall when it is set to begin. Why do I think I heard somewhere that the TS musical is going to start in Fall or late 2010? That would make a lot of sense if they want to tie it in to the summer movie release within a few months' time. That will be yet another thing that draws lots of people to DCA, along with WoC, next year.

Jack, I'm confused! What do you mean? I didn't change anything!:rotfl2: Is the font coming across as a different color now than it was before? Because it looks exactly the same on my end. I wonder if strange things are happening on the DIS. Bumbershoot was trying to quote something I posted earlier, and all my capital letters were suddenly turning to lower case - even in my name! It was very bizarre!:rotfl2:

Since I am red/green colorblind I have always seen your post come across as RED(dgf says). The last week your posts have been coming across in BLACK. Just assumed you made the change.

No, nothing changed. That's interesting to know, though! But everything is pretty much the same as usual in my font - at least on my end! Now if there are some crazy cyber wizards out there who are changing things, then they have not told me!

This is awesome news Sherry, I didn't know this was happening so this make me even more excited for getting back to DLR at some point. I keep thinking it will be sooner rather then later and then I get all these lovely bills that keep going up and just wonder. Its crazy.:goodvibes

If anyone does know when the change is going to happen for sure-ish, I would be very grateful. We were discussing when to go as an exteded family again just today. We are considering either the first week in May or the first week in Dec. DFiL loved Aladdin in October, and if it will be gone he will be very sad. I want to go in May (AP's expire mid May), so this may be the push I need to get everyone to commit ;). And yet, Christmas at Disney is so wonderful... I guess there are worse problems, right?

Goes to show that I hate 3D more than I love Pixar, but I thought it had already come out, right after they pulled TS and TS2 from the DVD shelves (Lasseter, why'd you do that....the vault is stupid, get rid of the vault dude....). How did I miss we have another 6 months until it comes out (and I can maybe possibly get TS2)????

I've never seen your posts in red....weird!

August 15. From Andy Castro's "Dateline Disneyland" column of Dec. 7:

Disney announced on Thursday, December 3 that California Adventure's long-running "Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular" will close permanently on August 15, 2010 to make way for "Toy Story — The Musical," which is currently running on the Disney Cruise Line.

“Toy Story – The Musical” will take over Hyperion Theatre in Disney’s California Adventure park in early 2011.

Thanks, Bob! Okay, so I think I missed my chance to see Aladdin again, as we didn't see it on the last 2 DLR trips and it will be gone before I get back to DLR, most likely! Oh well. At least I saw it one time. I am a bit surprised that they are going to have such a lapse of time between shows, though. From August to "early 2011" when Toy Story - The Musical" opens is quite a long time to go without a show at the Hyperion. I hope "Toy Story - the Musical" is as good as "Aladdin" is. That Genie character is amazing, and the way he works in current event references as the news changes daily is a big plus for adults who see that show, I think.

You're most welcome, Sherry!

I agree, that's a long time for the Hyperion to be dark. I would have hoped that they could continue Aladdin while casting, rehearsing, and building stage sets for Toy Story; and then do the switch over in a couple of weeks. No such luck, I guess.

Also agree that Genie is absolutely fantastic. We managed to catch Aladdin during both our recent trips -- late Sept and after Thanksgiving. He had different schticks each time, each quite current. And his delivery is superb! I'll really miss Aladdin. I hope that Toy Story is even half as good.
