We've stayed at Residence Inn Maingate and liked it just fine. Thought we'd try TPS by Angel Stadium but don't know anyone who's stayed there. Any input would be appreciated :)

TIA!!! :lovestruc

Its okay but kinda far. I'd go with the RI in Garden Grove over the Townplace Suites if they're running the same price or points category. Only reason we stayed at the Townplace was my brother wanted to go to a baseball game and we had a category 1-4 certificate to use. RI is nicer ... Townplace kind of reminded me of a Springhill Suites style room, but those vary a lot too.

OP is talking about RI Maingate, not Garden Grove (which I believe is a bit further away from the Maingate). I haven't stayed at the TPS but it seems a bit far away from the parks if that's where you indeed to spend most of your time; if you have a car and are fine for parking each day then I don't see why you can't try it out but the RI Maingate is close enough to walk, and the breakfast/facilities are great too.

Yep I'm familiar with both RIs (we're Marriott people) but it sounded like OP didn't want to stay at the Maingate again, and usually the GG one runs in a price range that is more comparable to TPS, which is why I compared it to that. Agree that it feels too far for parks visit. Hence why I recommended the RI GG since its on the ART route/doesn't seem as far.

We stayed here during spring break 2 years ago. The room was good, two seperate bedrooms, living area kitchen area and bath. The one thing that was a HUGE LET DOWN....when we checked in I noticed there was a basket with ear plugs in them. They all had a little note attached stating they were "Complimentary" for any guest that wanted them. I laughed and commented to the rep checking us in. She kinda chuckled and said they were given to the guests because of the TRAINS that run behind the hotel:scared1:.......Not the best place if you are wanting to sleep!

Thanks for your replies! It sounds like TPS isn't as good an option as RIM. We took ART when we were at RIM b/c we wanted to save our energy for the parks. Is RIGG closer to the parks, or did I misunderstand the pp?

RI Maingate is closer. RI GG is cheaper, which is the main reason I would think you'd head to TPS after staying at RI Maingate.
