Towncar Time from landing to resort

I have a question regarding the timing using a towncar from MCO to Disney. My understanding is that with a town car is that your driver is there waiting for you at the airport. You then wait for your luggage at the bagage return and then drive to the airport. I have heard conflicting times about how long it takes to get your baggage once you land.

In general what is the length of time form landing at MCO to getting your baggage and then driving to WDW? I am trying to get a comparision time between the typical town car time to resort to whatever ME ends up being. I do realize that with ME you don't get your luggage for a few hours but that isn't really an issue with me. I am just trying to see how much faster a town car gets you to your hotel.

Thanks in advance for any help.

We have used a towncar service, two different companies, for our last 3-4 trips to WDW. On the one trip that we had only carry-on luggage, it took us about 45 minutes to get to our resort. When we have had to go to baggage claim for our stuff, it has taken about 1 hr. 15 min or so to get to the resort. First, you have to find your driver (one time we really had to search, he wasn't where he was supposed to be!!), then you wait for your luggage, about 20 minutes. Then the driver helps you out with your stuff and tells you where to wait while he goes and gets his car. One time we actually waited 15 minutes for the driver to come back for us! But usually it takes less than 10 minutes. Then load up and to your resort, about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

We've used Tiffany and the driver met us at the escalator both times. In our situation, our luggage is almost always on the luggage belt when we get there. I would say an hour if your situation is the same. It has been very fast for us, not even traffic delays. We normally fly USAirways and luggage service at MCO has been excellent. Wish I could say the same for PHL :sad2:

Hmmm... we are flying US Airways so hopefully the luggage will get there fast at MCO but... we are flying through PHL so it may not mater how fast it gets to MCO. Heh, heh.

So it sounds like the typical town car experience with checked luggage is about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. It will be interesting to see what the typical ME expreince ends up being after the first month or so when they get the routes down and don't get lost getting to resorts. :-)

Any transportation method from MCO to WDW is going to have the possibility of disaster (or at least not going as smoothly as expected).

My first Towncar experience began with me spending a half an hour trying to find the driver at MCO and ended with me being left at WL when they forgot to pick me up. My second experience was perfect both directions. So I've had a good experience 50% of the time.

Once the bugs are worked out, I would actually think ME would be the smoothest option, there are always going to be busses coming and going and there's not wait for the bags.

I've got four months til I head down, but right now I'm leaning towards ME.

You should be fine at MCO. Coming back through PHL......could be a wait. We waited 1 hour in February and it was not because of crowds. We are within a 1/2 drive of the airport, so no big deal, but it is frustrating when you see how quickly the luggage is handled in other airports. I've actually landed in MCO, made a quick trip to the restroom and arrived at the luggage carousel only to have had my luggage removed and taken to the luggage office because I took too long to retrieve it! And we're talking MAYBE 10 minutes. So, in MCO they are fast. Against PHL, MCO is like greased lightning.

What I meant is we are transfering in PHL. We start somewhere else. Given what I have heard about luggage tranfers in PHL we will be packing a day or two clothes and all other essentials in our carry ons. Of course if it really gets lost we could always take it as an opportunity to get an all Disney wardrobe for the trip. :-)
