Towncar or Rental car?

I need help figuring out what the best mode of transportation for my next trip to WDW. I have 4 different legs of travel -

Dec 3 - Arrive Orlando - stay (somewhere 1 night near the port) so I need to get from the airport to the hotel
Dec 4 - Going on Disney Criuse so I need to get to the port from the hotel
Dec 7 - Return to the Port and go to Old Key West
Dec 11 - Return to Orlando Airport.

I really don't want to drive but renting a towncar is fairly expensive for all four legs so it seems that a rental car is makes the most sense . . . . Disney cruise transportation doesn't serve OKW so that's out.

Would it be better to rent a car for at the airport and return it the next day before the cruise and then rent another car when after the cruise OR should I get a rental car for the whole time (8 days)? I imagine I there must be parking available at the port . . .does anyone know the cost?

Any advice?

Hello Rebecca,
If you decided to hire a car, you would probably can get away with only three transfers hence reducing your expenses. 1st on Dec 3rd if you’re staying 1 night at a hotel near Orlando airport, you can take the hotel free shuttle. Most of the hotels have shuttle services. The next day, the car service you hire can come to your hotel and take you directly to the ship. If on Dec 3rd you decide to go direct to the port stay 1 night at a hotel before going to the ship, then the car service can take you direct to port. Here, once again you can take the hotel free shuttle to the cruise terminal the next morning. When booking you hotel reservation, remember to ask about their free shuttle service.
If decided to rent the car, keeping it with while on the cruise might be a bit expensive. I’m not quite sure how much but parking is not cheap. Instead dropping at the port might be a better idea. If you wish to consider the car service option, please check our website at www.fltours.com if you any question regarding this or any other similar questions you can write us customercare@fltours.com
Good luck.

Sometimes rental rates are so low that it's still worth it and you're still saving money or breaking even, even if you keep the rental through the cruise.

We did this 2 years ago. Our rental for 10 days was $172. total (National) and parking was $7 a day for the 3 day cruise. It was so convenient having our car the whole week! so $193 for 10 days transportation was not bad at all.

YOu just have to price out cars and add the $10 a day for parking at the terminal to see if it's worth it.

This year my rental car is only $111 TOTAL (National again) for a week (no cruise this year though) so if I were to add $30 for a 3-day cruise my grand total would only be $141. for a week.

Good luck!

Thank you AndyN and Beattyfamily -
I think I'll price out both options and weigh cost against convenience. I will check out the Fltours website. I have never tried them before. Also sounds like National is a good rental company to try. Thanks for you help!
