I'm really debating over whether it would be better [convenience-wise] for my BF and I to reserve a Towncar service for the days we want to go offsite - next time I think I'll be splitting our stay between Universal and WDW so we don't have to do this!

I doubt we'd be using any kind of regular cab/taxi service (I'd rather use an established, well-known company!), and I think it will be easier to sort out the transportation before-hand.

What would you recommend? And which service? - I'm currently leaning towards FLTours (not because they're related to DIS, but the booking process is perfect for us).

Also, how much tip is 'standard' for transportation services (%-wise)?

Any other info - much appreciated! :goodvibes :sunny:
TIA!

[BTW - I might be back with more questions!]

I have never used FL tours(but since they work for you/they sponsor the boards...good choice) . You usually rent for a 3 hour min., but again check it out.
Tips 18-20% on each leg of a round trip (eg. 120 rt ..would be a 12 dollar tip for drop off and pick up driver, just incase you got 2 different drivers)

Personally I think you might want to rent a car for a day, I would think you would be at Universal a while. Good Luck

We'll only be 20yrs so I don't think we can rent a car. We would want it for two seperate occasions, and, also, I don't think I want to drive 'the other way' just yet :rotfl:

I've been looking for tipping info though, and I'm glad I finally have an idea!!

We used a Mears taxi in Feb 05 to go from POP to USF/IOA; cost was about the same as using a towncar service ($25 one way), but no ressies were needed for the taxi (thought it would be difficult to know when we'd be ready to leave USF/IOA). Mears is the Disney recommended service; they were very helpful and reliable; no problem getting one at POP and there's a taxi stand at USF. No need for advance ressies, etc. Very easy.

Toadi - I think that Mears have taxi's outside the Deluxe resorts but do you have to call for one at Mods/Values? I know that when I was there last my dad had to make a call to get one.

Thanks!

Well, we did call ahead of time for a pickup at POP in the morning when we went to USF, but there were several Mears cabs out there already, so we just took one of those. I think it probably depends on which resort; the time we stayed at POR I didn't see any, but staying at Coronado Springs I saw them waiting. I would definitely call ahead to have one waiting in the morning as I like to keep to my "schedule"!
