I keep coming across people mentioning town cars. What are they and how do they work? Can someone help me clear this up. I would appreciate it!

Lincoln Towncars, sedans, professional chauffeur driven (not cab driver), quality like a stretch limousine, but size of a normal luxury car (not stretched). Large trunk space, comfortable ride, they meet you in luggage claim. No waiting in long lines for transportation at the airport, you get your luggage then you are on your way to your hotel.
