Towing from Ny to WDW

I'd expect some road construction on I-95 South of Savannah, GA. Depending on the time of day, you might have some traffic delays....as for metro areas, I'd personally take the Jacksonville bypass because of a close call pulling our camper. There is one spot where traffic seems to merge together then split again. If you are ready for it, it shouldn't be a problem. Hope this info helps.:earsboy:

Ok, we leave in 25 days, and I think we have it all worked out. We're taking 81-83-95.............thats what DH thinks will be best for us. We are leaving @4am on Thurs. 8-19, and will be stopping early in Va. We hope to do some swimming and relax and meet up with other family members that evening. We are taking our time, and only driving a few hours a day, so we can enjoy our camper, and be at FW on Sunday, 8-22. Again, thank you all for the advise!
Only 25 more days til we "hit the road"!:jumping1: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cool1:

Our son is on his way as I write this. Left Drum at 1100 today and nothing but rain. 81 to 83 to 95

Waiting to hear from him for the the night stop...oops...phone is ringing.

He said that route was not too bad. 3 and 5 yo boys have done real well. Watching Sponge Bob and other DVDs all day.

Stopping just north of Richmond right now for the night.

Will find out more later.

John

Thanks John!
Glad to hear about the route.............wishing your son a safe trip!
Keep me posted..............:sunny:

The crew made it in at 0400, left Richmond area yesterday at 0900. He decided to drive the 900+ miles without stopping. From what I could get from him before he hit the sack, the route was not that bad. A couple of accidents really delayed things but roads in general where OK.

Will debrief him more after a well earned rest and let you know if any conditions warrant concern.

Hoping your journey goes well and you have a great time.

John

We drove from Vermont for our 2 week vacation and got back yesterday. We towed our 30 ft TT with our 25 ft bus. The drive was not bad, but long, around 30 hours down (bad storm) and 28 hours back. We took 91 to 84 to 81 to 83 to 95. The worst construction was in Waterbury, CT and traffic was actually stopped for awhile. We always do the drive straight through alternating drivers. Everything worked out well and we had a great trip. Fort Wilderness was wonderful as usual.

We like to just drive and get there....
We generally leave around 3:00 p.m. and drive down 81 to 83 to 15 to 270 to 95 and get past Washington that first night and then just stop in a rest area to catch a few hours of sleep, then drive down to WDW that day, there is 2 of us driving, and that seems to work great for us.
Have a great time, it is a long trip but well worth it.
