i have heard this and didn't know if it was true or not so i was wondering if anybody knew okay when tower of tower first opened in DW did people stand up and they had too many injuries so they built seats so you could sit with bars instead of standing don't know if it's true just wondering if someone could clarify :flower:

The tower of terror always had seats.
But I would be the first on line if it didn't
Tower-of-Terror.com is a great priviate site that gives you a lot of inforamation and history of the attraction.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember TOT having lap bars instead of seat belts. I also seem to recall an accident that was related to the lap bars that resulted in multiple injuries.

ToT had lap bars until just recently. Problem with lap bars is that fat legged mom n dad put petite, skinny legged daughter in between them.

First time I rode ToT I had the back row, center seat...the only seat with a belt. Apparently the person who sat there before I did was HUGE because the belt had about two foot of slack around me. Well, not knowing what to expect from the ride and also being someone who hates seat belts, I never properly tightened it. All I'll say is BIG MISTAKE.

You're obviously as intelligent as the statement that you made. You should probably avoid wearing seatbelts, especially when speeding.

As a fat-legged Dad, I read no judgment in Plus' post, just a very clear factual description of why the lap bars didn't work out.

joliesmom, I'm sorry I offended you but DB is correct. I wasn't trying to be cruel to anyone, I was just trying to point out the design flaw in the old lap bars. The bar will only go down as far as the thickest ( better term ? ) leg on the bench. Once again, I apologize for the offense.

Quoted for posterity. Apparently encouraging someone to engage in high-risk activity is considered "intelligence" in joliesmom's world.

I think he implied that dad was fat legged as well.

There are a lot of worse descriptions that could have been used

I just spend the day at Disneyland with a friend who's quite heavy. We sat beside one another on numerous rides with lap bars and the bars were very far away from me because his legs, or girth, prevented them from closing any further.
It's just a fact that this is what happens when people of differing weights and sizes are restrained by a single device: one size does NOT fit all.

Yah, I thought it was a good post :flower:

Whatever the reason for the switch from lapbars to seatbelts - it's much better now.

I can remember everyone jockeying for the "seatbelt seat" in the back when there were lapbars. That was a pain. Now everyone gets the seatbelt seat - and it's much more fun. :flower:
