Our 4-year-old went to Disney last year and rode everything she was tall enough to ride. She loved Splash Mountain, but cried after Dinosaur becuase she thought the dinosaurs were going to get her. I have never been on ToT , but if I even consider putting her on it I will ride it first to see what I think. Do you think she is too young to ride? She is 44 in Anyone have any experience with a 4-year-old on this ride??

My 4 year old (at the time) loved it! (And we have the picture with her laughing her head off on the ride to prove it! :) ) She's got her sister all psyched up for her first time, which will happen this trip. Explain how none of the scary stuff is "real", it's just pretend. Just Disney "magic". Explain how sometimes it's fun to be scared when you know you're safe, and explain how you'll be right there for them to hold on to. Practice screaming with them. (My girls love that!) Scream loud and long. Over and over.

Each kid will be different though. If you think your child might be frightened, by all means ride it first and judge for yourself.

Have fun!

There was a little girl (4 or 5) on the Tower when I rode last year. After the little ride / show (before the drop) this little girl says - "OK! That's all!"

Everyone on the ride had a chuckle. It was cute. I hope she wasn't terrified!

My son rode it for the first time one month after he turned 4 and he loved it. He is quite the little daredevil though.

That is a great idea, our oldest doesn't even like watching the scary parts of movies, I am going to the idea its okay to be scared and safe at the same time.

I tend to think the more you explain to kids (within reason of course) the more fun you and they both have. Don't forget the screaming practice! :)

On tower of terror and dinosaur I always pretend to be more scared than the girls and let them "protect" me. Gives them a job to do and something to think about when things get "intense". :)

Most of all... have fun!

Youngest DD has been riding ToT since she was 3. She loves this but will not go anywhere near the Jaws attraction at US.

My 10 year old doesn't want to ride it. Of course, she doesn't like roller coasters either. We are trying to talk her into riding Space Mountain. We are hoping by taking along a friend that she will get some positive peer pressure.

I think so much depends on the individual child.

We just did the HTH at Disneyland.

My just turned 5 DD loved it.

My 8 yr. old DS did not want to ride it. He just does not like the way the drops make his stomach feel (he did ride TOT when we were at WDW) Of course he will ride CA screamin' - a roller coaster with a loop - over and over again, so go figure!

There was a little girl in tears she was so scared and her mom was making her ride it when we were there. I felt so sorry for her!

My 4yo didn't like it "at all at all!" (as she puts it.) My 10yo doesn't like it, either. My 12yo has loved it since the first time he rode it (at 8.) It just depends on the kid.

(My 10yo is another roller coaster hater. She'll do Big Thunder and Splash, but Space and RnR are out of the question.)

Last December my 4 year old rode (and she turned 4 during the trip)... she loved it. My 5 year old was frightened, but surprisingly not by the drops, but rather by the story... she was upset by the people that turned into ghosts. She declared that she wouldn't ride it again until she was 7, but just last week told me that she wants to go back and ride it again... "I'm ready now Dad."

my dtr rode it when she was 4 and she had a ball, it was grandpa who was scared

4 is a good age for ToT if the child is tall enough and the daring sort. Both of my boys rode it when they were 4. The older one wouldn't consider it at 6, and it wasn't until he turned 8 that he decided to get back on it. At 4/5, they are usually fearless. :)
