My husband just came up with a novel theory about the Tower of Terror. I just happened to be sitting here reading the boards, and I said, "I'll ask! Maybe a CM on here will know!"

He was wondering why, when we went into the parlor waiting area on ToT, the CM asked everybody to stand on the carpeted area only, and made rather a big thing about "stand only on the carpeted area". His new theory is that maybe the group was being weighed to make sure our group wasn't over capacity.

Anybody have any idea about this? :confused3

Since the same group of people dont always end up on the same elevator I would doubt that. Its probably so you aren't tempted to touch the decorations in the dark. That is my guess any way. That and so they know you can see the film.

I think the CM who follows the group in needs a clear path to get to the door in the back of the room. I have seen people off the carpet plenty of times. Gotta get close to that magic door. :rolleyes1

That is the case @ WDW. They ask you to move onto the carpet so they can go around to the other side of the room while the video is playing.

I was gonna go with the not touching the decorations theory. The farther people are from the decor, the less likely they are to mess with it. The less they mess, the less need for touch ups (paint, piece replacements, etc.).

Exactly. The viewing room capacity has nothing to do with the loading of people in groups as that happens later in the line.

it's for a pathway for the CM. the same thing is done at HM.

It you have someone hard of hearing in the library at ToT, ask the CM to turn on the closed captioning, then they can read the script and not just rely on hearing. My dad is hard of hearing and missed all the fun before stuff the first time we rode ToT and when we went again I remembered to ask for closed captioning and he really got it!! He enjoyed the ride that much more.

Also, you can do it at Sorain' before you "board".
