Tower of Terror - Queue but no ride?

My wife and 2 kids all are interested in the Tower of Terror. My 5 year old swears she wants to do it (and meets all the requirements). We originally intended to do child swap, however my wife is more interested in seeing the queue than actually riding the ride. I've read before there are "chicken" doors on every ride, for folks who decide to opt out. But would they be willing to let me wife and little one (even though he doesn't meet the height) through the line know they are not going to get on the ride at the end?

Is there a better way to handle this that I'm missing here? Thanks =)

I don't see why not if they want to stand in line with you & opt out of the ride part at the end. That doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but perhaps it is? I think the TOT is pretty neat to look at so I see why your wife wants to do that.

there is definitely a chicken exit. I know because I used it..LOL...just tell them that you are not riding and they take you back down in a regular elevator (ironic I know)

I think so. You might be able to do everything right up to the elevator loading. I think...

They've let me through before when I was pregnant and clearly unable to ride the ride. We told them I just wanted to stay in line with my friends because the line was looooong and I didn't want to wait alone outside. They were 100% fine with it and escorted me to the elevator to the exit right before they loaded up the ride elevator cars. No problem :)

BrianL has given the correct information. Only those who meet the height restriction can enter a queue. Anyone in a queue can opt to exit before boarding. But since you have one person who doesn't meet the height restriction, they can't join you in line. The swap option was made for just this situation.

Yeah, although the queue is fun to walk through and do the chicken exit (I have done it too!), they aren't able to let you in line if you have someone under the height restriction.

I plan to ride the ride. But I don't want to get child swap passes, and sit around for another 15-20 minutes while my wife makes her way through the queue just to opt out at the end. That's silly.

But I was concerned that since my young one was too short, they wouldn't risk letting him in the line, thinking we are the type of idiot parents that might actually try and put him on the ride.

So it would be OK for your DW to wait for you but not the other way round? If you don't want to sit there waiting, why not take the little one to another attraction or M&G while your DW enjoys her walk through? Then you can all meet up again afterwards.

So, if I may interrupt and talk about myself for a minute (LOL), this means my mom, who absolutely will NOT ride ToT, could walk through the queue with my dad and me and then duck out before we get on the ride? That's kind of cool to know. Hmmm...

Yes.

Yes that would work... Anyone that doesn't want to ride but meets the height requirements can walk through.

Anyone that does NOT meet the height requirement can't even get in line though, because they are afraid that youw ill somehow manage to sneak that too small child onto the ride, either because the person at the end wasn't paying attention.

Just warn her it is a regular elevator to take you down! I'm sure your mom won't be too scared but it is kind of funny to hear the kids start whaling who think they are on the ride when they are just in a regular elevator.
