Hi,

We're planning on being at DL/DCA the first week of May, tentatively on May 4th and hope to catch Tower of Terror open. I have seen different dates and was hoping someone here might have more info?

I have seen a special opening event (believe by invitation?) for sometime in April and then I've seen in print the opening will be May 4th as well as May 5th in another publication.

Can anyone out there help?

Thanks!

last I heard it was the 5th. It use to be the 4th but they changed it a month ago.

Thanks for the info. Several other places I've posted have had several different dates too, guess we'll just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best!

Most likely itll be "open" without really being "open" meaning itll prob start operating a few days earlier for "people testing" ie making sure everything (preshow, queues, loading etc) operates when and as expected before the mass open to get the quirks out-

I know they are cast testing now but well CMs are usually more responsive and attentive towards little things like not bottlenecking the queue- moving all the way across, staying on assigned numbers and whatnot whereas the general public well isnt as a whole-

I would bet that anytime the first few days of May youll have a decent chance of catching it

We are doing the Tower of Terror Event on April 23rd. It is a special ticketed event and there are several different packages for it. I do believe the official opening, however, is May 6th.

I'm pretty sure it's the 5th. They're trying to coincide it with the 50th Anniversary announcements going on that day also.

It is May 5th, the media will be there for the ToT "official" opening (although it'll be open to ride unofficially before that) and while the media is there DL is taking advantage and also announcing the 50th anniversary celebration info at the same time.

How did you find about the TOT pre event next month? I am a Premium AP holder and haven't heard anything about it yet. I did figure I could head there mid April and probably get on as they usually have a soft opening in progress before the official opening.

Thanks for any info you have.

I found out about it on the Disney Gallery website. I am also a premium AP holder and hadn't heard anything. We did one of these special events at WDW in October. That one was the 999 Happy Haunts event and the Haunted Mansion was the main event. We loved it. We went to an auction at one of the hotels and then had admission to the MK after hours. Only a few attractions were open but they had a buffet dinner, open bar and special desserts. They also had special opportunites for exclusive merchandise and pictures taken in a doom buggy. There was also special entertainment. I am hoping for something along the same lines for this one. The merchandise, however, for pre-purchase wasn't in the same caliber as the 999 Happy Haunts. For the ToT event, it is mainly pins. You can view them on the Official Disney Pin Trading site.

ceejay13, are you dressing in 1930's attire for the event? We have a group of us going and we are. It's been fun searching for clothes and accessories to wear.

Now that you mention it, I did read that they were encouraging people to dress up. I actually hadn't thought about it. I'll have to see what I can find.
