tower of terror is open

Wish someone had warned me what the ride entails. I WILL NOT RIDE THIS RIDE AGAIN  . MY 5 YEAR OLD DS AND DH LOVED IT :rotfl2: BUT MY DD AND MYSELF HAVE NEVER SCREAMED SO MUCH.:scared: :scared:

SO BE WARNED RIDE AT YOUR OWN PERIL :thumbsup2

I can't wait to try it - although we have no trips planned for DLRP at the moment.

I love the one in WDW and will get a chance to try the one at DL, California next May.

I'm getting quite nervous about this ride, just what happens exactly? Am I right in thinking it drops like a stone? Is that the worst part, or is there more I should be fretting about? :scared1:

Stupid question of the week:- what does the Tower of Terror do as a ride? I daren't tackle rides that go through a loop de loop so a lot of the exciting rides are out of the question for me. [took until my 3rd visit to go on Big Thunder Mountain}:confused3 :lmao:

Annette is right ~ it drops like a stone, then whisks you back up before you catch your breath, then repeats both several times!!! :scared1: If you're lucky you may find your scream where you left it in the lift shaft!! :rotfl:

At one point the lift doors open and you will have a wonderful view, especially at night.

Here's some great info at DLRP Magic about it.

There is no turning you upside down, you are sat on a seat with just a lap belt as you don't need any of the over-the-shoulder harnesses. It's my favourite ride at WDW and I am a very big wuss so if I can do it anyone can!! :thumbsup2

No over-the-shoulder harness? Just a lap belt Yikes  :scared1: :scared:

I'm really not sure I want to go on this ride....

.... actually, having just read the advice on the DLP Magic site, I don't think I should!

Just remember Disney have family-friendly parks - the ride themeing is not excessively scary and not gory at all.:hippie:

Only you know what you can handle, but you could always try it once and if you really don't like it well, you'll know not to go on it again.;)

Our DD went on the one at WDW last year (she was 5 at the time) and said she never wanted to go on it again. When we asked her what rides she wanted to go on when we visit next year, she said ToT first!:lmao:

I'm not sure you understood all of what I said, particularly the bit about the advice given on DLP Magic, where it states:

"Visitors should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by the rusted service elevators." (the bit about 'rusted service elevators' made me chuckle)

As I received treatment in April for a condition called Myelitis, after my last visit to DLP, I am wary of the mention of "back problems". I am trying to avoid a repeat of this episode, if I possibly can ;)

I think I'm going to have enough to deal with, with all the walking and queuing, somehow :sad2:

French forums say ToT is open for everyone now. There was an opening ceremony too. Can't wait to try the European version! Will be there next week (Jan 2-6)

Annette, the TOT isn't jerky at all, it is a very smooth ride but you are lifted out of your seat so I think you'd probably be best to err on the side of caution and walk through the hotel so you can see the fantastic theming then escape through the chicken exit.

Here's some pixiedust: for good health for you this visit.

Sounds like excellent advice to me Elaine, thanks, I think this is what I shall probably do. Hopefully it is obvious where the chicken exit is, though I have Doctor's letter I can probably wave at the CM if need be, might make me look less of a chicken

It was open to all on Saturday 22nd. We went into Studios about 5pm ish and the wait time was posted at only 30 mins.
Now, as you know I had no intentions whatsoever of doing it, so my daughter was willing to wait until our trip in Feb when her dad can take her on, but amazingly she decided to ride it on her own. I was astounded at her courage, but I queued up with her. The theming is fantastic - the cast members are particularly ghoulish looking bellhops

There is a way to exit just before they ride. The CM said "You are not riding? Oh, come on, we go together." I laughed and told him I wouldn't for a million Euros, so he showed me the way through.
My daughter loved it and had to immediately go and buy the on-ride photo to prove to her dad and brother that she did it. She also bought a "I survived the Tower of Terror" t-shirt.

She said that the lap belt did not hold her firmly in place and during the drops she was a couple of inches above the seat!

Wow, your DD is VERY brave to ride it on her own. :thumbsup2

That picture is amazing ~ she certainly looks suitably scared!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

ToT is the best ride EVER!! Ive been on the one in Orlando numerous times, most recently last week. They are now on ToT4. This means they are rejigging the drops, since some peolpe go on them so often that they can anticipate the drops. So they randomise the drops to make it different every ride. It is absolutely fantastic, enormous fun!

One thing I have found that makes it even funnier for me. When we rode ToT in Orlando last August, I happened to be holding a half-empty water bottle in one hand. As we dropped, I noticed that my hand and arm, unbidden by me, rose above my head, up in the air! WE rode it several times, and noticed this each time. I got my husband to try it to, in case I was kind of making it happen, but it worked for him too! Its a really weird feeling, so if you remember, give it a try!

Hi Mom2thebestkidsever, welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

TOT is my fave ride at WDW so I can't wait to ride it at DLP ~ that's really weird about the water bottle but shows you're definitely braver than me as I need to hold on with my hands!! :lmao:
