Tower of Terror 13K & 6.5K Race Website Link

:rotfl: ha,ha, you're funny Dave! My DH is anti-Disney and would have a major fit if I signed up. I've been saving tips, from Starbucks & side cleaning jobs, since 2006 for my upcoming 2008 trip. Gotta keep peace in the household...hee,hee.:rolleyes1

Yep. All of the above, but screw it we are going any way. Besides this is all your fault, you came on the walking site and found us!!

You need to look us up this time when you come to DisneyWorld in January. We have hugs to share and would love to hang out with you.

Dave:)

Sign me up. DS16 was going to run RFT while I was doing the Chicago Marathon, same weekend.

Now I can get him to drop RFT and do ToT instead. Sounds like a great race, but I'll have to take a nap in the afternoon to stay up that late!

I just called member services and put us on the waitlist for Oct 21st - 27th (checking out on the 28th) for either BCV or BWV. I need to be back to work before the November ratings book starts. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Otherwise, I think we will stay offsite in a timeshare unit - my in-laws can get fairly cheap deals through the timeshare they own. If we can't be on the Boardwalk area, it doesn't matter to me. We always drive from our resorts to the parks anyway. Staying just outside takes about the same amount of time to drive to where we want to be in WDW.

We decided to do our week at WDW in October around this race, rather than our usual January week long trip. Our APs will expire before this year's January race, so it makes more sense to do the parks in October instead. We will come down for a long weekend in January for the race. If we are lucky, it will be a kid-free trip too! ;)

Kristi,

I made called DVC last Thurs and said only SSR. So booked 10/19-10/30. DVC called back on Fri and said they had 10/23-10/30 at BWV. Still wait listing the other nights. I know someone who wait listed a res made Fri received a call an hour later stating they got BWV. Good luck. Being able to walk to the race is great:)

Susie!!!!! Yea baby, you rock!!!!

I sent a mail to Disney dreamsunlimited that I booked through and I got the 169 rate for all the nights. That saved me about 350 dollars. Now maybe I can afford to drink beer with Ultra MickeyMouse:cool1:

Thank you

Does anyone know when you can register for this??? I looked through the entire site and couldn't find anything. I am sure it is there I am just missing it.

Thanks

Kim

It is not available yet. Disney says just keep checking back at the site. Rumor is that it will be on this Fri the 13th:)

I will post the DVC discounted one on my website when I get it.

I put a call into Group Sales and I'm just waiting to get the quote, if anyone is interested......

:confused3

Yes! Please let everyone know what kind of rate you get, Honibee! And thanks for doing this!
Jodi

Lynnda and I are looking forward to doing this race as well. Although I think we will just drive over for the day and try not to spend the night. That way we don't have to do double everything for the babysitters. :lmao: For some reason the grandparents were more than willing to clear off their schedules to stay with the grandkids.

Hi guys,

I just found out about this race yesterday and convinced Dh to do it. This will be our first. My DD is interested in doing it too, but I wanted some advice from those of you who have done this before. She turns 11 in August. Are there many kids her age usually? Do you think she will be able to handle it? Any advice/opinions are appreciated. Thanks

This is the first year this race is taking place. 11 is the minimum age that Disney allows for this race. I don't have kids but would think if she trains, 8 miles is doable. Remember there is a 6.5K option also.

See you there:cool1:

There will be plenty of WISH team to encourage her and everyone else.

OK, here's the deal. Just had a family conversation at supper and we (actually DW, DD and DS did) decided the marathon is out and the ToT 13K/8K is in. I brought this topic up because I thought there was much more for the whole family – not that there isn’t a lot at other times at Disney – to enjoy with the race, MNSSHP, and the food and wine fest going on right around this time. Unfortunately for me it was unanimous and we will start planning for the 13K – this is 3 weeks after my next marathon so I will definitely be ready for it. DW, DD and DS want to do the 8K. Is there an age minimum on the 8K?

I will have tons of fun with this but will miss doing the marathon and getting that coveted 15-year medal. I was also planning on really training and shooting for my Boston Qualifying time of 3:30. Guess I will just have to shoot for that in October instead.

Who's gonna check the computer after midnight to see if the registration goes up? I'm hoping I get insomnia tonight so I wake up and can check! I want to make sure I'm in. :goodvibes

Yay Dave! So glad you got the 169 rate for all nights. :goodvibes I'm anxious to see what Judy comes up with as well.

Hmmm, hadn't thought about that. I'm sure I'll be up at that time. :upsidedow
