Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

I have a question , I've always wore compression running tights on long runs here in los angeles. They help me immensely and keep fatigue and soreness under control. Would the humidity in florida make the benefit of my compression gear a hindrance since it seems I will be sweating like crazy. Hopefully some one has some thoughts on the matter.....We are almost there boys and girls! Keep calm and run on !

i would run in what you normally run in, changing up from compression shorts might through your run off when i was down on at WDW on vacation i would run with my compression shorts and did not notice the humidity

Sorry to hear about all those who are recently injured - does sucks mightily. Hopefully you'll be recovered enough to take it easy and still participate. I'm going solo but my local training buddy had a calf issue come up so I have an idea of what a disappointment it is. Good luck with rehab/training all! :wizard:

That is just pure awesomeness! :thumbsup2

Thx a mint for the link! I excitedly plugged in my deets and I felt a pit in my stomach when I was "not found". :confused3  :( I just checked to ensure I have the payment receipt and confirmation emails that were sent when I registered. I submitted PoT a few days before cutoff with the hopes that I'd get some buffer btwn the balloon ladies as I'm unaccustomed to running in the heat - hope this doesn't screw up my corral placement.

Anyone know whether I should email rundisney, trackshack or active? It's my first rD event so it's unclear to me which areas are each organization's responsibility. Any insights much appreciated! :goodvibes

Deep breath...

cheers,
:)

Some people who had problems finding the bib number indicated that it was because the birth date was wrong. You might want to try switching the day and month numbers or trying a date one or two days before or after your birthday. I'm not sure why but those mistakes seem to happen a lot :(

My husband's birthday is 3/1, but both active and rD seem to want his birthday to be 2/29. I had the same moment of panic last night but remembered this happened when we did Wine and Dine 2 years ago. I put in 2/29 and found him! If you registered through an active account, I would log into that account and check your profile to verify all of the information is correct.

3298 here. It's a little bit of a stretch for me if the corrals are the same as last year. I have a wicked fast friend who is number 48. Double digits, people.

Folks on FB seem to be upset about corral numbers. People who submitted fast times (like 1:10) are in the last corral.

I am one of those on FB. I am just disappointed because I worked so hard (and paid the money) to get my POT and it didn't make any difference in placement. Bib 10686 with a 10K of 1:04. I was told that any POT is better than none and will at least get me out of the last corral. I have calmed down now that I realize that bib numbers seem to be all over the place and I am not the only one with this issue. I was wanting to stop for pics and was hoping that a good corral placement would at least let me do that but now I am afraid that I will see the big bad balloon ladies... :worried:

I'm a little confused about the bib numbers and the coral assignments.

I'm number 1004 and my wife's bib is 795. The race time I submitted was around 1:23:05 which puts me at a 8:18 pace. I know my wife's time is usually about 10 minute pace. Totally confused at why my number is higher than hers. Of course last year my bib was 1334 and hers was 892 and we were in coral C, so I guess it is what it is.

Btw, I wanted to show you all my new Ohio license plates I just got. My wife and I love going to the Tower of Terror race each year as a little getaway and I love sharing my love of, well, all things Run Disney!

Love your plate!
I'm 1417 and DH is 5245. I was 3063 last year and in E.

I agree. Run what you normally run in. You WILL be a sweaty pile of sweat no matter if you're running in compression material or not. I'll be wearing my compression socks.

Chaitali & LadyDi13, thx a mint for your quick and so very helpful replies! :worship: LadyDi13, after I tried your suggestion of logging into my Active acct, I was able to find myself! I would never have thought to do that - so relieved and happy!

I feel sheepish now complaining that my bib number, based on 2013 corral assignments, is over 3,000 higher than I expected! Looks like they used my original estimated time, rather than the PoT I submitted.

I feel your pain - I really trained hard, reworked my sched to find a pre-PoT-deadline-race, and paid too. I'm in the same boat and won't complain here anymore as it looks like you really got it bad. :sad2: On the flip side, if you were able to do that pace, you should have no problems avoiding the balloon ladies. Good luck and hope you are still able to enjoy the race! :wizard:

cheers,
:)

I think I have the highest number I have seen yet.. :) #11226
My two friends are in the 600's and 900's.

I plan on coming in right under 1:30 if anyone else in who was placed in the last corral wants to meet up to run let me know. I don't think my friends will want to move from the near first to last corral.. :)

Also
Which Facebook age were you seeing people discuss bib numbers/corrals?

I got 3400's starting to think they used my estimated finish and not my POT since my POT want that good. Super excited to finally be in the mid though where I will fit in a little better pace wise.

That's what looks like happened for us. They used 3 of ours previous 10k scores instead if the ones we submitted as a new one.

Like I said a few posts back, I'm at 1856, one of my friends who submitted the same time of 1:09 is 11053....

Thanks for link to the waiver and looks like I got bib #7636 so maybe I'm not in the last corral afterall. Even 2nd to last helps a little and I'll take all the help I can get. ;)

Been in PT 3 times a week since July with a bad shoulder and it's really thrown off my training. Still on target but I had hoped to have been a little further along.

This is my first Disney race and I'm very excited but nervous at the same time - just don't know what to expect. Can anyone who has run the race before give me some idea of the route you take? Is it mostly flat surfaces or some hills? Any tips and advice I'm eager to take. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much in advance. :)

Thanks for the link. Its good to know that I am not the highest bib number given.. :) 11225 out of 11500.

I think I need to train this last 3 weeks on my weaving skills in a very wooded area or something.

I wore them for the Enchanted 10k and it was almost 80 degrees and I didn't have a problem! They help me a lot too.

Yes, that happened to me. When I went to submit my newer proof of time I wasn't coming up so I called them, and they had my birthday off by one day. It's weird why that happens so much.
