Towels

How many towels does a five person family REALLY need? I swear that we have 40, at least. I was doing laundry today and I carried half the towels down the hall to the bath room, in a tote. An 18 gallon tote, twice as full as it should have been. Is it just us, or does anyone else have an unusual amount of towels?

In my house, it's just me and dd4. We have an awful lot of towels too. Only so I don't have to do the laundry quite so often. Same reason we both have more clothes than any person needs.

Send some my way. I don't know how it happens, but towels disappear from our house!

At the moment, we have between 10-15. I need to start buying them again. We'll probably pick up one or two every pay day until we have a good amount built up again. That way we can afford to buy really nice ones.

we all have more clothes than anyone will ever need too. Its actually kindof sad.

We more than 30 towels but my DD & DS are both on a year-round swim team & swim 5-6 days a week....I do a load of "just-towels" every day or at least every other day.

I have a ton of washcloths and for some reason, they all end up used within just a few days. Neither one of my kids will fess up to it, but I have a feeling it's the little one. So, I went to JcPenney yesterday because they had a great sale, and I bought new towels. I let the girls pick out their own colors. Nowwww, we'll see who the culprit is. I have to add, I cannot believe how expensive towels are.

There are only 3 of us in the house and we have about 40 towels. I like having a lot of towels as my DS doesn't wash his as often as he should and steals from my bathroom.

Well, missy, let's say that we are each allowed one towel per day. That is 7 towels per person, per week. Now add those all together and you get 35 towels total (7 towels X 5 people = 35). I don't think we have 35 towels, so I'd say we don't have enough.

we proably have 15-20 beach towels...... and lots of bath towels too........................

You are clean when you use them. This is what my sisters and husband tell me. But I can't do it either. I do a load of 12 towels a day. 6 people, 2 towels each. Plus in the summer I was taking 2 showers a day too.

We use one towel per person per day. Something my MIL taught me was to buy cheap cotton towels. They are smaller and thinner and take up less room in the washer and dry faster- making them more economical.

I don't know how many towels are in the rest of my house, but at home, between my sister and me we have 5 or 7 towels. Not sure exactly how many since I'm not at home right now. We use one towel per week. They dry out thoroughly between each use (most of the year) so there's no mold growing on them, and we are clean each time we use them.
At school I have 3 towels just for me. That's so I have enough towels to make a load big enough so that I don't feel like I'm wasting my money on laundry, and so that I can go 3 weeks without washing my towels .

We just got married...It's just the two of us and I don't even want to estimate how many *brand new* sets (as in towel, hand towel, and washcloth) that we have. That's not even counting the 15ish I have from before marriage and the 5-10 he had from before. We have towels stored EVERYWHERE. Too many to fit on our 3 tiered shelf in the bathroom.
