We just returned from the disney cruise to find that my son had packed 2 of the bath towels in his suitcase. Will. They charge me for these.

I would say the chances are better they will than they won't. Had they been pool towels where they aren't able to track them well...probably not. Since they know what each stateroom should have...they might. You may wanna give them a call and explain the mix-up and offer to return them. I bet they'd be alright with that.

On the same note....I had a question about towels....do I need to bring beach towels on our 4 night Western Caribbean cruise on Magic from Galveston?
What about for our excursion in Cozumel??

They have pool towels/excursion towels available. If it is a Disney excursion, they'll hand them out at your meeting place. If you are going on your own, there will be a rack as you exit the ship. Not oversized or great, but better than having to take your own.

Only if you want real beach towels for your excursion. DCL will provide pool towels for excursions. There are bins to turn them in as you return to the ship (please bring them back, we don't want DCL to start charging for pool towels!).

:cutie:

on our last cruise (on the Fantasy) brent keep announcing over and over not to pack your breakables in the towels as you would be charged for them. I wondered if this were true and how they would be able to track that. shortly after arriving home I read an article about how the better hotels are now have some sort of gps system thingy put in there towels so they know when they walk off. not sure if dcl does this but if you watched the little televised announcement brent does for departures, you will hear this.
with what they charge for the red bed pillow I can only imagine what a towel would cost. I would be tempted to contact therm.
let us know how you make out.

Welcome to the boards!!!:cool1: It would be nice if you mailed them back and your son might get a nice life lesson that we all make mistakes and we " try to make it right". He is a good packer at least.:thumbsup2

On our second cruise the bathmat got scooped up in our dirty clothes. Never any additional charges. I didn't call anyone either. Had a charge popped up I wouldn't have disputed it since it did come home with me. This was 2010.

Last month on the Fantasy, we received "the card" saying anything missing from the cabin would be charged. I'm not sure if that includes towels.

I think where the card came from was the "entititled" people who think that they can take whatever they want. Soap is 1thing since it normally gets replaced weekly, or 2 x a week but taking pillows gets expensive to replace

When I was on the Fantasy in December, they did not have a rack of towels as we exited the ship to go on our own into Costa Maya. We had to go up to the pool deck to get the pool towels to take with us.

I'm not sure about towels being available on the pier in every port. I know they are on the pier at Castaway Cay, but I recall having to get towels on the pool deck before disembarking in Coz to go to Paradise Beach. I remember a cage at the gangway for dirty towels as you re-boarded the ship. I've killed off many brain cells while cruising :faint: and my memory is a bit hazy, so I may be mistaken.

Came back from our cruise last Sept and noticed an additional charge on our credit card from DCL that showed up a few days after we came home. Called DCL and was informed that we were charged for the laundry bag that was missing from our stateroom. We had DH 2 dress shirts sent to the laundry to be pressed on the first day and never received another laundry bag in our stateroom. I told them to take a look at my ship charges and see that there was a charge from the laundry and they did remove the charge. So, yes they DO charge you if things are missing from the stateroom.

One of my favorite souvenirs to buy is a Disney Beach Towel from the ship or Castaway Cay...though they do take up a lot of room in a suitcase. I was soooooo tempted to "accidently bump" one of those dream pillows into my suitcase. :rolleyes1 I can only imagine what they'd charge for one of those!!!

Our stateroom host looked at me strangely on day 1 when I pointed out that there was no laundry bag and I'd need to have one since I didn't want to be charged for it at the end of the cruise. Yes, check the room when you enter. Make sure you have 2 wave phones, the red pillow (new ships), laundry bag, etc. If anything that is SUPPOSED to be there is missing at the end, you will be charged...then you have to argue that it was never there to begin with. I'm probably just a jerk, but the first time they charge me for something that I didn't take will be the last time they'll see me on one of their ships. I find "the card" offensive and the implication that I'm going to steal their stuff is just inappropriate.

I imagine they only have the card because it's been a problem in the past. That I can understand. And if they don't warn you people can "innocently" declare they didn't know and try to get the charge reversed. I'd rather people pay for what they stole then have higher cruise fares to cover what DCL anticipates will be stolen. It's sad that people think they can just take things.

the pillows sell in their shops for $200 each. bet the "accidental bump" doesn't sound so good now.....lol.
