Yes the towel thing really is ridiculous!! Especially since you can get as many towels from the pool that you want.

It has been published in DVC publications (Vacation Magic, rtc) more than once to please NOT take pool towels for use in the room. The reason given was diferent laundering requirements due to chemicals, chlorine and some health issues.

Ok - I must be the odd one here. I find that hanging the towels in the bathroom of a studio - - they never, ever dry. So scratch the idea of using them more than once. Doesn't work for me! However, we used to always stay in a two bedroom and, of course had our own laundry - so no problem. For the last three years we have been in a studio - for six weeks. I love doing my wash at the pool - - put it in - read a book - - put in dryers - read some more - get a tan - and poof in a hour all of the laundry is done. I wish I had that set-up at home. I don't care if they ever bring me clean towels - but I do like my sheets changed once a week - and DVC does oblige. So for one I am very happy with all things laundry at OKW.!!!

They've asked us not to take the pool towels back to the villas UNLESS you have the towel wrapped around your body to keep from freezing OR you are dripping all over the place. But to take a stack back to your villas is not right.

I didn't say that I take them back to my room. I said, it doesn't make any sense to limit our towels in the room, when you are out at the pool you can take 5 to use at the pool, 3 times each day. If me and the family are swimming 2-3 times a day, we are using a total of 12 towels a day. Isn't there cost associated with washing and drying the pool towels. What is the difference? I can use 12 pool towels in a given day but only 1 hotel towel in 4 days.

I'd be happier with 6-8 towels with no trash and towel service on day 4, as sometimes I take 2 showers a day. I don't mind hanging my towel, but after day 3 I would like a fresh dry one, especially in the summer/hot weather, as I take more than 1 shower a day.

The pool towels are laundered differently, and likely aren't subject to the commercial sterilization requirements of in room towels. After all the pool towels are stacked in an outside bin, and generally are not used in the same personal manner as in room towels. It is probably cheaper to maintain the pool towels.

I'm reasonably sure Disney has done cost projections on folks laundering in-room versus laundering commercially in the main plant.

I know I keep bringing this up. So, I know there is a $6 charge for towels everyday. That seems a little crazy with as much money as we pay to belong to this club. Does anyone else have a problem with this. Do you really wash your own towels everyday while you are on vacation. We are going in June and will probably be showering more than once a day. Our towels will not even be dry yet.

What does everyone else do.

Yes, I agree that it is nice not to have people walking around my room everyday and can clean up after ourselves but this towel thing is really bugging me. I am just looking for what other people do. Please do not throw flames. We have never done this before and are just looking for what you do.

I don't use a new towel everyday at home and I don't at disney. I don't know why this bothers people the towels aren't dirty , you just took a shower so all you are doing is drying the water off.

If you want more, then request them and pay for them if that will make you happy. For what a Disney vacation costs, $6 for an extra set of 4 is nothing. DVC is a timeshare, not a hotel. The entire membership should not have to foot the bill for those who want extra services.

While I too reuse my towels at home several times before washing them, I understand what the OP is saying about them not being dry. In SO. CAL. where I live the air is so dry my towels easily dry between uses, even if I fold them. But in oh so humid Florida, I can barely get my hair to blow dry in a reasonable amount of time, yet alone my towels!! So I think what a previous poster said about throwing them in the dryer without washing them is a great idea, any may do it myself next time!!

Every morning at Disney, after our showers, I throw the towels (yes I mark them with a pin) into the dryer and hang them up again before we leave the room. They don't dry otherwise. I once saw someone carrying two huge stacks of pool towels back to their room at South Point...I mean two HUGE stacks (probably 50 towels minimum). Now THAT is a serious problem if everyone did it. Rules are NOT meant to be broken, and just because you get away with it doesn't make it right. Besides, those pool towels are very rough compared to the room towels. If you can't afford the $6 for an extra towel pack, then maybe you shouldn't be owning DVC.

I've been a member almost 10 years and like the current system. Members who want extra services pay for them, those who do not benefit from lower dues.

I have to agree with you. I have only been a member 1 year but i believe the system works. I might want more towels but i have no problem spending money for it.

Thanks so much for the info.Yes I am a member and I do frequent the site and I have never seen that You are right that is is well hidden, I'm having a hard time. I would like 1 or 2 more cleanings and would not mind a few extra dollars. I work part time but My full time job as a mom would pay for a little extra help since I'm on vacation too. Thanks again I'm looking forward to the service since we stay 2 weeks at a time.

Why not just go to the pool and get "extra towels"? You don't have to pay and you also don't have to wash them? That is what we do.

Last July we were 7 staying in a 2BR. We took care to hang them up and spread them out as much as possible in areas outside the actual bathroom. We had no problem with them drying but the a/c was going at a pretty good clip. We heard about "borrowing towels" from the pool from our guide.

Another case of conflicting info from Disney. As Deb mentioned, it is against DVC policy, and member publications have repeatedly stated not to do so. If enough people take pool towels, I wouldn't be surpised to see them meet the same fate as the coral colored towels, placemats and salt/pepper shakers in the OKW villas.

What is hard to understand is that if you can afford Disney what's an extra $30 for 2 more trash and towel days? Rules are rules if we shouldn't use the pool towels they might just not offer that any more. I've figured that would make our full cleaning the 4th day and a trash and towel every other day by just adding 2. It makes Mom (me) happy

Total agreement here for not abusing the pool towel availability....We have stayed at timeshares and resorts where you had to sign out pool tools or only got one pool towel issued per stay. I would hate to see DVC head in that direction. We will often take a pool towel back to the room because we are wrapped up in it. Those towels are always returned back to the pool that day or the next morning.

As far what takes up more money, extra towels or guests doing more laundry....I think we can safely say that Disney has analyzed it thoroughly and takes the option that costs less.

What do you do at home? Do you have new towels everyday? We don't use wash clothes over one day, but we wash our towels once a week. We even share towels. Just DW & I now, but when the kids were young they shared towels too. When they got older they had their own towels, but still only laundered them once a week.

So, yes, we do towel/washcloth laundry when we need to. No flames.
