Towel animals

Ours were hit and miss as well. We stayed in a value and a mod during same trip. My feeling is that as "mousekeepers" change, so does the service. Not all do them. We had them at both resorts when we first checked in. After that, we were lucky if they did anything. Mostly ours would sometimes arrange the kid's toys throughout the room. We left tips, but that didn't seem to make much difference. Just be happy if you get 'em. And yes, we allowed our son to take his home. They were small and made out of ratty wash clothes, pipe cleaners, and stickers. He loved them.

My family and I have stayed several times at different resorts and never had any towel animals. Then when I stayed at Coronado Springs for the Disney Institute by myself and no kids, mousekeeping left me a towel lion. It is obviously hit or miss with these things. I'd rather mousekeeping leave me extra coffee or vacuum the carpet and dust - but that's just me.

They are cute and a fun surprise but I would never think of requesting them. It's just like when you wear the birthday buttons - sometimes great things happen and sometimes nothing does. Just being at WDW is fun enough anything else is extra....

In the spirit of surprises, we like to leave something for our Mousekeeper at the end of our trip. The kids always have fun thinking of a little something special to leave - a gift card, a treat basket, etc. We also get fastpasses to pass to the people coming into the parks as we are leaving. Anyone else find it more fun to be on the giving end of the magic instead of the receiving end? Is there a thread with ideas?

I agree. And speaking of handing out fastpasses, we had some extra and thought why waste them and gave them to an older couple with their grandkids. By their reaction, you would have thought I handed them a bag of money.

What do you think my chance is of getting towel animals at AKL? Are they more common at some resorts than others? My daughter is looking forward to one, but I am sure that once we are there, the towel animals may be long forgotten!

We just returned from AKL and we didn't get any towel animals. We had a towel Mickey on the bed when we got there and I was very excited about that! My DS and her family stayed at POR and they had several cute towel animals.

I have posted this ona few other posts about the towel animals>>>

Just sharing some great "freebies" I have had for a long time- & we have not made our first Disney trip yet- I must admit, I hope we arrive home to a few of these adorable creatures- But>>> Here are a few patterns to do your own

There are many more across the internet- do a google search or browse many general craft sites and search within the site- Great for shower gifts for newborn's- a housewarming gift for someone you don't really know what to get OR if your budget is low- It makes it so much more special than just a set of towels and wash cloths...

we try and do this as well. We are big believers in karma. We had a few extra tickets to the local ren faire when we were in NY and gave them to a dad and his two girls that were walking behind us on the way to the entrance. It made their day.

Towel Animals:

1) They are prepared by the room maid.
2) All maids are trained in basic animals.
3) Some do advanced animals.
4) Tipping or not tipping does not influence maids making animals.
5) Animals cannot be requested or ordered.
6) Whether you get animals is based upon
. . . if the maid has time
. . . if the maid has the energy
. . . if the maid has the initiative
. . . the if the maid is and employee or temporary staffer
7) Expect nothing, and be pleased if they appear.

I have been @ POP and there are wonderful mousekeepers but with the towel animals it just depends on how busy they are IMHO because some times we get it and some dont.Last time we were celebrating our aniversary and received a greeting card from Mickey & Minnie ,two towel animals (on different days) and a congrats call from Mickey & Minnie. The service in our room have always been great and we leave every day a tip for the mousekeeper of course in a character envelope with our names and simple thank you but we dont expect it and when we get its exciting :yay:
Here's a picture :

We stayed at CBR in 07 and had them almost every day. Last trip in 08 none at POFQ. This June we are at POP. We take my son's small Disney Plush and last trip they did do some fun things with them.

We're going to CBR and I hope we get them! I stayed at POP with my dd a few years ago and didn't get one but we always came back to funny little suprises. He toys we're always arranged in funny ways. I have 3 kids now and they would love to come back and find towel animals. I never told my dd that housekeeping moved her toys...Tinkerbell always did it!
