Towel Animals--- what do you with them....

We took a few of the ones we got home with us. I asked a mousekeeper who said that they save the old, torn, and stained towels to make the animals and would have thrown the towels out anyway. I don't know if this is what is done at all resorts but it's what I was told at the CR.

This is what we were told by a very nice mousekeeper. Yes, you can take them home! They do this on their own time and at some expense to them. We don't know who provides the towels; but believe the items they use to embellish them with comes out of their own pockets. If in doubt you can ask. We have taken a few home. We were never charged for taking the wash clothes or towels animals. I guess, the best thing to do is just ask at the resort you are staying at what their policy on it happens to be.

Ours were sooo cute - they had stickers all over them, we came back to the room to find DD stuffed toys along with th towel doll all watching tv...the doll was holding the remote!!

We have never gotten *ANY* towel animals! We thought tipping might be the secret trick so we tipped everyday on our last trip in March. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful!

Um...we used them...as washcloths.
I never even considered taking them home with us. We only got a few in our one family trip and this was at a time where I hadn't "read" that they were something special. It looks like and sounds like some of them get very intricate.

Last summer, we got towel animals for the first time in 14yrs of trips.

We took pictures of them....duck, bird, huge alligator on bed made of several sizes of towels, canoe, toothbrush holder, etc.

I wouldn't take them home. They were appreciated during our trip.

Also, I highly doubt that they are provided by mousekeeping at their own expense. I do believe they do it as a thoughtful fun gesture.

I admit I took a wash cloth bunny our last trip. My 2yo had become attached to it and started freaking out when I tried to leave it in the room when we were checking out. I was not in the mood to fight with her.

As I said I am only repeating what a mousekeeper told us. She said that she did it on her own time and that it involved expense to her. She was going out to the store that day to pick up more supplies. She made special dolls with silk flowers for the girls and requested that we take then home as she would have been insulted if we didn't. Whether Disney provides the towels I don't know one way or another. I thought she said she bought her towels at the Dollar Store. I could be wrong as it has been alomst two years ago. Some mousekeepers like this one goes above and beyond what others do. Take it with a grain of salt if you like. When in doubt just ask if you can it home.

Every night we added them to the previous night's ones in our window. By the end of the week we had a whole towel "familiy". We left them in the room when we left.

we've only gotten the animals when we stayed at the Poly. We were only adults in the room and we got a kick out of it each night. I did bring home the duck - and its still in my bathroom.

As a proud member of PETTA I always set them free on the balcony. I refuse to be a part of the exploitation of poor helpless towel animals.
