Towel Animals...to keep?!?

We've only ever kept one....and it was just a small bunny made of a washcloth. It is STILL in my daughter's room probably now 8 years later.....

Same here!

I don't think I would want to take this one home

I honestly think that while they are cute, we have no desire to take them home. What are we going to do with them? :confused3

We have enough stuff taking up space in our house that we don't need. We leave the towel animals there. ::yes::

Okay if this pic is what is meant by towel animals then we've never had one. Last trip we had towels folded into a flower, a swan, and an elephant but no faces or anything on them.

What you got were towel animals. :goodvibes

Our Mousekeeper on this trip was really dedicated to her craft. Our room was overrun by them. :cutie:

I've taken them all home with me. I currently have a corner in my room dedicated to my towel zoo !! (Its about 14 various animals, and love em all).

Are you sure they didn't mean yours to keep for the duration of your stay? We got a towel animal on our second day last trip and it was on the bed. I moved it to the desk and it stayed in tact, and the housekeeper left it there for our whole stay. I assumed she would remove it and put a new one maybe, but she didn't. On cruises, we normally get a new one every day. Either way, I usually end up taking them apart and using the extra wash cloths :lmao:

Ahhhh, the toothbrush holder towels. We thought those were cute too, until we realized that the Mousekeeper had to touch our toothbrushes to get them in there....hope it wasn't right after cleaning the toilet. :rotfl2:

Oh, we got one of those (and, yes, I still have it). I didn't know it held a toothbrush!

We have always taken pictures of them and used the towels for what they are meant to be used for. I have also read that they use old towels so it's ok to take them. Every time we took the towel animals apart they never looked any more worn than the ones left to be used in the bathroom.

I just read on Touringplans that if you are so lucky as to receive a towel animal from Mousekeeping, it's yours to keep. Has anyone had experience with this? I always thought they were very cool to get, you took a picture, and that was it. Maybe it's 'cause I was always raised to believe that taking hotel towels was a felony :scared1:...but I'm having a hard time believing you can just take it with you.

Our had a fun conversation with our mousekeeper (lodgekeeper ;)) and she told us how they go to classes to learn how to make the towel animals. She explained they were ours to keep and take home. We chose one towel animal she made into a puppy dog. Adorable!!:goodvibes

You definately can ! Mousekeeping told us to take any she left us. She gave us some every day :) And on my DD's B-day she really decorated our room and gave her a towel cake too ! She was estatic. We tipped her every day ;)

We keep them if they will hold up well. A couple of weeks ago I learned how to make most of them.

You do realize it's an elephant, right? (And yes, I do know what you think it looks like.)

I seriously thought it was a palm tree. Elephant makes sense I guess
Or that other thing...

We haven't been since 2009 but they were ours to keep if we wished. Mousekeeping asked us why we weren't taking them home. we did take a couple with us; a chick and a turtle. but the swans and other bigger ones we left in the room. We really didn't have room to take them intact and taking them apart first would have defeated the purpose.

The last time we stayed on site was at SSR in 2007, we got 1 towel animal the whole week we were there that we ended up keeping...it was a towel animal of Eeyore!! We still have it now, intact! It is very adorable!! :eeyore:

I've only taken two or three home but I was told by the Mousekeeper that it was fine to take them. They use the towels that are starting to look threadbare and old to make them.
