I've seen towel animals in some TRs. :goodvibes Is this the norm? My kids would love this! I know when we went to WDW, it was suggested that you leave a daily tip in the room for housekeeping. But this did not always result in disney pixie dust. :sad2:

On our recent Alaska Cruise, we had a different towel animal every night.

Towel animals at WDW are pixie dust. As far as I understand it, everyone gets a towel animal, every night on DCL -- no pixie dust required. We had fun returning to our stateroom each night and seeing the surprise left for us by our room attendant. :goodvibes

Yes, it's part of the bed turn-down service. They also include a little chocolate square for everybuddy, and the Navigator newsletter with the next day's activities.

Yes, we got them every night of our cruise. They seemed to be themed either to port or the activities of the day. A turtle in Grand Cayman, a lobster the night of the Captain's Gala, etc. Sometimes we would end up with two different ones on the same day, one between the show and dinner and another before bed. On seven day cruises, they offer a towel folding class for both children and adults which was a lot of fun for both my 12 year old son and me. I hope you have a wonderful time!

On the Dream in March we did not get them the first or last night and my girls were so disappointed.

Wow, I find that most unusual. I've been on a total of 4 cruise (two 4-day, one 7-day and one 14-day) and have had a towel animal every single night. It's the last picture of each day in my scrapbook!!

I too would be disappointed not to find one and I'm alot older than they are!! (not saying by how much but suffice it to say by a lot :rotfl:)

If you leave a pair of sunglasses out handy, they are often incorporated into the towel animals. I've even seen someone with a small stuffed animal that also became part of the towel sculpture!

Our room steward knew how much my son loved them ,and he'd make them in the morning and the evening. My son loved it.

We got them about every other night on the May 10 Alaskan cruise. Cute at first, but they did become a nuisance, as our kids wouldn't let us destroy them and they took up a lot of space.

We did the folding class on the 4 night dream. Lots of fun! We actually got a special animal our last night because of the gift my daughter made for our host. She was actually crying on the final night because she was going to miss him. She wrote him a note and gave him her favorite seashell she collected at CC

Thank you everyone!! I'm so excited

I hope you have a wonderful time!
Thank you!

I have a feeling my kids would do the same thing. ;)

I really fancy the towel folding class, I've read others talking about it I hope I'll be able to fit in around all the other things I will no doubt want to do, already doing a cocktail making class.

Counting down the days, I'm soooo excited to crusie qwith Mickey and his friends.

Our room host got to know our personalities doing our B2B on the Dream and the animals began incorporating our items more and more. Sunglasses were often used as well as my kids stuffed animals. I also found my Minnie ears on the hanging monkey that you see in many TRs. One night we came back to find my DS's Duffy Bear in the mouth of a very large crocodile. My kids loved that!!!

And when he noticed the birthday magnet on our door he asked whose birthday it was. Then on the last night, in addition to the regular towel animal there was a large towel cake and a birthday card for DD.

Hair bows, hats, and sun visors have also been made part of ours. Some of the CMs are really creative with what they can do!

After admiring them and taking a photo, what do you do with towell animals?

Do you unfold them and use them... as a towell?

DW and I place them on the couch each evening, by the end of the cruise it is full, and we take a group picture. On our last cruise, one of the animals was a giant shark made with the spare blanket.
We have had hats, sun-glasses, DW's ear-rings left out by accident, and souvenir glasses included in the animals.

We were on the Dream for the 5/15 4 night sailing. Our stateroom host was awesome!!!

1st night - Snail

2nd night: Lobster w/ sunglasses

3rd day - mid afternoon - Swans. We had an anniversary magnet on our door and came back to the room during the day before turn down service and found this beautiful display with a lovely note from our host:

How sweet  for your anniversary. Great attention to detail by your room steward. :) I recognize your pillow pet, my DS has the same one. :upsidedow
